    If you arrive in the UK on a Fiancée visa then you will not get a BRP until you apply for your first FLR(M), if you arrive on a spouse visa then you will have to get one within two weeks of entering the UK at a Post Office that provides the BRP service.

    Congratulations, Rheb! :)
    I am about to apply for my spouse visa. We're just waiting for the NSO copy of our Marriage Certificate. :) Hopefully the process will be as quick as yours was :)
    I just have one quick question though, did you renew your passport to your married name? Would it be easier to have it renewed? :)

    Looking forward to anyone's response :)

    If you have time it is definitely worth getting your passport changed to your married name, it will save hassle and confusion through the visa process over the next five years and will save you an expensive trip to the Philippine Embassy in London where it takes three months to renew your passport. In the Philippines it only takes a couple of weeks to get a new passport if my wife's experience is anything to go off.

    My wife's passport expires next year. At the moment she has the passport and BRP in both names.

    That is the time we will change the name in the passport, and I guess at that time we should change the name on the BRP too, which I believe costs another 180 quid!

    It is tempting to wait until ILR before changing the name on the BRP, but I guess that could cause problems if we want to travel anywhere.

    The BRP is another good reason to change the passport from maiden name to married name as we know that the BRP is always in the name of the passport. Presently my wife has her maiden name on the BRP and we should have changed it a long time back as it is a legal requirement, we face a fine of a £1000 but I'm just hoping they overlook it on the next FLR application, I will use ignorance as my defence :)

    It is £180 to change the name on the BRP too as you say which is another good reason to change the passport if you are already married before coming to the UK.

    Yeah, I think you a right there. We went the fiancee route, so that wasn't an option.

    It will be interesting to see if you have any issues with the BRP. If not, maybe there'll be no need for us to bother changing it before ILR.

    I'm not too worried about it although the official line on changing your name on the BRP after marriage it is below;

    You must apply for a new BRP within 3 months. You can be fined up to £1,000 or have your stay shortened if you don’t.

    Hi everyone,

    My husband is completing the su07/12 form and we are confused with the second page.

    Who is supposed to sign the second page?
