"What attracts Filipinas to Englishmen, and vice versa?" (Lots of answers, please)

I've been asked to comment, by a very well known Filipina "agony aunt" - if you read Rappler, you will know who I mean - who is herself married to an Englishman - on the specific question of what attracts the British male to the Filipina and what attracts the Filipina to the British man.

So I thought I'd throw this one open:

From the Filipina side:

She says that she thinks what makes us British men attractive is the combination of our courtesy to women, which we learn as children, our reliability (we keep our promises) and our command of the English language.

Comments from Filipina members here particularly welcome - what is it about the British male that you find attractive?

From the British male side:

I say that the attraction of Filipinas is the combination of femininity with a "grown up" approach to life - Filipinas are the "most equal" women in Asia and the fifth most equal in the world after the Icelanders the Norwegians the Swedes and the Finns.

I say that the Philippines is actually run by its womenfolk; boy children are spoiled and grow up into a very "macho" culture, whilst girl children are made to work hard and obey their mothers. The result is that men strut around like fighting cocks and women actually run the place, but Filipinas are intensely competitive and will compete for the most "macho" males. Filipinas are not infantilised, unlike so many women.

I think light skin color is a desirable trait for the lower class Filipinos (which still makes up the majority of the population) but if you go to class B and A, the color of the skin isn't really very important.

I met one of the NARS make up artists in Selfridges London and she was half Filipino and she was super gorgeous! She's not the typical halfie who has acquired the light skin tone but she's tan and I must say, she stands out and is very gorgeous!

To answer the question, I was never really into westerners or fair skinned men but what made me attracted to my husband is -

1. The English are known to be polite and respectful and not so crass and loud except say, for chavs.

2. I also observed that they are comfortable with their sexuality, one doesn't get teased if they cross their legs or put their pinkie finger up while drinking tea. In the Philippines, you would be teased as bakla.

3. I must admit, the accent can be very sexy

Filipinas are renowned for their practicality :vhappy: as long as you have that long nose.
