On herd immunity.

A note from Iran, almost everyone in Iran has now caught SARS-CoV-2 at some point during the pandemic many have had it twice and some have had it three times, that's a whole country of 85 million people and they still have one of the worst case rates in the world and a terrible death rate.



So those banging the natural immunity is great drum are just plain wrong at this point, exposure to one variant does not protect you from another and immunity clearly wanes over time, and the current wave of deaths in Iran is being driven by Delta, as of July only 3% of Iran had been fully vaccinated so it's a good example regards natural immunity.

They are now up to about 23% fully vaccinated so in theory the survivors further down the road will be a good case study as to whether Covid exposure + 2 doses of vaccine result in longer better immunological protection.

To my knowledge there is still no scientific concensus to support what is being claimed at this time.

Mike viruses are everywhere, there are millions of types in circulation in species that don't regularly interact with humans.

Why do people need to believe this was subterfuge, was the 1918 flu epidemic subterfuge, will the next flu pandemic be subterfuge or will it come from a virus population in birds.

Was MERS subterfuge (camels) was SARS-CoV-1 subterfuge (SARS back in 2003 which luckily died out).

How about HCoV-OC43 which was devastating back in the 1890s and is still around

Or how about HCoV-NL63 which was identified in 2004 but clearly existed long before then.

These are all coronaviruses MERS, SARS-CoV-1, HCov-OC43, HCov-NL63, and another one HCoV-229E which I haven't mentioned, SARS-CoV-2 was named after SARS-C0V-1 because of the symptoms and pathology beign very similar.

Zoonotic events happen, they've always happened, it's easier to explain these events as zoonotic jumps than it is to explain them as conspiracies, a simple application of occam's razor.

There will be more pandemics for the simple reason that humans are encroaching more and more on environments that have hithertoo been left alone by us, there is so much stuff in the amazon that we know nothing about as just one example, the more we rape the planet the more we will suffer the consequences.
