BBC news just showed 3 different corpses outside a Delhi hospital, one lying on a pavement, one small girl saying "This hospital is useless" as her mum has died outside :(

The Indian government is being heavily criticised at home for its sense of triumph earlier in the year when they thought it looked like they had it beat, that was when they went on to allow extremely large gatherings to occur and these have clearly been calamitous.

as India has 20 times the population of the UK--and we have had 120,000+ covid fatalities --there could be upwards of 3 million in India--and thats not considering the poverty and overcrowding.

And some people ( on other forums ) say there is no pandemic ?

The slums are a viruses wet dream, my first time in India I caught amoebic dysentery and was hospitalised on my return to England.

I was travelling around India for some time and I was amazed at travellers' habits.
As so many were getting "Delhi belly", travellers seemed to travel to their next destination there and "hole up" for a week or two.
People definitely did lose weight there, even though Indian food is so tasty.
It wasn't so much the food in the bigger towns and cities but it can be easy to get the trots away from those types of places.

The worst that happened to me along those lines was in Vietnam when I was invited to drink home-made "wine" with some communist party officials who were responsible for giving permits for travel in their area. (I always used to enjoy the whole beauty and wonder of being in foreign countries with friendly locals). The next day with permit in hand, I got the 18 man zodiac out on the nearby river with two really big outboard motors and headed into Kurtz country and ended up near a mangrove swamp getting chewed up for a week by mossies every time I had to "take the shovel for a walk". Talk about a crash diet. Some people in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) didn't recognise me just a month later, so effective was the Vietnamese "diet".

19 crematorium (official ones) in Delhi, all working flat out, I wonder how many unrecorded are going up in smoke on the ghats at varanasi and similar places.

    It is heart-breaking.
For the millions of people who have travelled around India since the 1960s, we can all see the country's many splendours in our mind's eye and imagine how awful things must be for the Indian people :cry:
    Numbing.

I passed an open air crematorium just outside Kathmandu in 2018,a few bodies were burning, Nepal is way poorer than India, people are born, live, and die under the radar in such places, no need to record the death of a person at the bottom rung of the ladder when their birth probably wasn't even recorded.
