Thats it. Ferry booked to Belfast in August. Ports of call when there will include the Titanic Museum, Giants Causeway and ye olde Bushmills Whisky Distillery :D

    No passports required.

I was also told by the ferry company that any sailings between I o Man and Dublin do not require a passport. However we are going to confine our journey to N. Ireland only.

Indeed. Mrs Timmers ought to arrive in time to catch some of our British summer!

My wife arrived on October 1st just as it was turning nippy.

Yes, I'm wondering how she will cope with the cold, as long as she doesn't want to wear tights that's the main thing, I don't like tights :)

She is always moaning about the heat in Manila, lets hope she gets chance to moan about the cold in the UK quite soon.

Was talking to my wifes friends husband from N. Ireland. He said there are no checkpoints by road between N Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

He also said that the troubles over there still simmer.,

No there are no border controls anymore, I was there quite recently, I still feel you would be taking a risk taking the loved one there as you never know what's going to happen.

Did I tell you about the time a policeman smashed my car up in Ireland? (he was pissed of course), like I said you never know what can happen.

He said that you have to watch which pubs you go in and the small villages. (Probably like going into the wrong pub in Glasgow :D ).

I was working in a small town in Rep of Ireland, I wont say which one.

Walked outside the hotel one morning to go to work and I found the back end of my car was badly smashed up, debris everywhere. I called the guards, they came and identified the model of car that smashed into me from all the wreckage left behind from the car that hit mine. Got a call from the police station later on in the day, "my name is sergeant ******** I am the one investigating your case and I'm also the one that ran into you". He asked me if I would agree to my car being put into the local garage for repair and he would pay for it. After taking advice from the local company I was working for and my own company we decided to go along with it. I then put my car in the garage as requested by the guard (over £1000 damage and that was maybe 15 yrs. back). Then to cut a long story short, a week later the owner of the garage came to see me after the car was repaired and he asked to see my green card as the guard had gone back on his word and refused to pay for the damage he did to my company car. That pissed me off a little, so I made sure when I left two months later that I leaked what had happened around town knowing full well it would get back to his superior which it did as I learned later. He was suspended from duty for a month and had to attend AA classes. I learned also that I had been drinking in the same pub as the guard the night it happened, I left at one in the morning leaving the guard behind. When he hit my car he was actually taking another guard home, so there was two policeman involved. Only in Ireland this can happen
