Poultry show, I used to go on occasion, was it called the Royal Show Ground a few years back?

A good place to be as Warwick is close by and is a lovely town.

Unfortunately, the Royal Showground at Stoneleigh ceased to exist a few years ago.
I used to make some very good turnover there.

I thought it had shut, there is a new ground that's opened nearby though isn't there?

As far as I am aware, The nearest showgrounds to Stoneleigh are the 3 Counties in Malvern, and the Midlands Game Fair in Weston park near Telford.

Apparently Stoneleigh Park is a large convention centre come hotel that uses the grounds for trade shows and the like. Pig and Poultry Show its called nowadays.

I like these sort of events as they are a bit of a jolly for the likes of me but I guess you would be an exhibitor.

I wouldnt swear by this but the Irish visa process for a Filipina in the UK married to a Brit and in the UK on a visa involves sticking both passports, marriage certificate and proof of address in the post.

Just over a week later, you get the passports back complete with visa! And free.

I believe you can cross the border into the south but they do make checks and it can be hassle if no visa.

That's good information John, I suppose it naturally ensues you want to go to Southern Ireland if visiting Northern Ireland, roads are not too bad now in the south which now makes touring a little easier.

Yes. In our case we will take the ferry across to Belfast then drive to Antrim. Probably visit the distillery there too. I wouldnt mind a look at the Harland and Wolffe shipyard but probably wont. I will try and persuade the Mrs to come and see where the Titanic was built.

We wont venture south just to keep it simple.

But yeah. Makes sense to kill two beds with one stone if you are already over there.

Las Vegas is also on my mind for the near future as her daughter has just moved to her fathers place in LA, wonder how difficult it will be to get a visit visa for her there? Maybe not too bad if she is living with me in the UK, we will see.

No culture vultures in our place at the moment....We always have the kids in tow, so nothing is relaxing for us
Even a walk in the fields can turn into a nightmare.
Ah, the joys of fatherhood at my age :greedy:

Your right aposhark, all that kind of stuff is far in the past for me fortunately, I'd forgotten about all that kind of parental stuff, I'm at the stage where I'm just bank of dad, you'll be at that stage before you know it.

Always something to look forward to in life isn't there :)

They are too young (3 and 2) for questions like that.
It is more a case of "what can we destroy next"

I sympathise with you, it will only get worst before it gets better. It is better when they get to the stage of putting things together like Lego than destroying things as you say.

I like kids when they get to the bribery stage when you can do deals with them to keep quiet and be good.

    I'm sure you're a great Dad aposhark :)

You can have a good day out, with kids, out at some of these places. Warwick Castle is pretty good for that, for example. You dont get to see all of it with the little ones in tow but compromises can be reached. :)

I was looking into this a few years ago. I believe they are clamping down on people coming in via this route as it is a well known "back door". But in theory you can land in Eire, drive to somewhere like Belfast and catch the ferry across to the UK. Its here where I believe they are checking passports more.

Before Tex got her UK Passport she was required to hold http://www.eurovisa.info/ Schengen Visa to visit Ireland by Air.
This requires a visit to the Embassy in London as is the requirement if traveling to any EU country.

I 'phoned the embassy and was told land travel was permitted. (Very Irish)
:) Via the Irish Sea. !!

We went to Dublin by ferry, with car, and were not asked to show her PI Passport or Visa at the port.. :)
Some old UK/Eire right of travel laws pertain to "road" travel.

Holding a UK Visa it was OK when checked in Holyhead on return UK.
