Hi, I'm Nickel just joined here and i am engaged to a Scottish man, a British citizen.I plan to apply for fiance visa via online but i am not sure if i can handle it all by myself.I am thinking of finding a help from an immigration lawyer but i don't know anyone.Do you guys know someone?I would gladly appreciate it if this group can refer me.
Another thing is, i wanted to learn from you the steps that i need to do for this kind of visa.My English certificate will be out in a weeks time.Maybe from the experiences that you have, i can have it on a one time visa application /approval.
Thank you so much and i am looking forward for your comments and advises, thank you

    Welcome aboard!!!!!

There is absolutely no need to use the services of an agency or "Lawyer", as the bulk of the documents has to be supplied by the sponsor in the UK and only a few from you in Pinas.
The "Middleman", only charges for getting things together in a file which, ultimately, you have to take yourself to the Processing Centre...
Something you can do yourself, saving lots of money.

Your language certificate, if from the approved UKBA list and if at the right level is a good start.

Does your fiancee's salary meet the £18600 per year salary (before tax) minimum requirement? Thats the first hurdle, really.

Then you will need to prove that your relationship has been genuine and ongoing ie photos, skype or chat logs, passport stamps etc etc

And you will need to prove to the UKBA that you intend to marry once in the UK....

That should give you initial food for thought.

Thank you so much for the replies.Yes, you are right there, it is indeed a big savings not to get a middleman for my fiance visa application.Yes, he is now a pensioner and is working part time in another company and his income is more than that.We also do not have any problem with the accommodation, and yes we will soon be married there.By the way we met at facebook and we communicate through it. we don't have much post mails, but we have lots of photos to show, including our church engagement/spiritual vow and ceremony. We also use prepaid calls, that's why we do not have records of calls. Will it affect my application?
I have seen the redflags of fiance application, and i guess, the length and duration of our relationship is considerable, we met more than a year now. With the age requirement, i am pretty sure we are okay.
My only concern is, how to make sure my application for fiance visa will be a "one time process" for we can not afford to be disapproved and apply again.I am really praying that , i can find a way to connect to people of experience rather than the lawyers.
If there will be anything more you can advise me how to do it, i will be pleased! thank you so much

YES, he came here to visit me last September, that is why we had our engagement at our church. It was actually a "spiritual wedding vow", and not legal under Philippine laws. He was here for 15 days more or less :)

Thats good. So any evidence that you have of his visit will be important. Like I say, photos, flight ticket stubs if any. His entry stamps. Anything that proves you met around that time. Any paperwork from the engagement.

Hi JohnAsh, i went through it and saw some light on certain aspects, but i'm not so sure if what was the application form needed for me to fill up online? (frantic :( )
Anyway, i sent Anne a message on that thread i hope she can reply to it.
Another comment i saw there is about the letter of Support? I was a bit confused because i thought that letter should contain the invitation and the intention of the sponsor
to the applicant. But why is it that Timmers mentioned he prepared 2 lettters, one from each other and another from his mum ..also mentioned from friends... Do you have any idea what was that all about?
I hope and pray that before i get to give the application a start, i will have a clear picture of the process, and i am relying on your advises guys, thank you so much :)

!:welcome: Nickel! Have you undergone TB Screening in Makati already? The first questions asked by VFS Global when I got there are your fiance's financial requirements, TB screening certificate and English requirement. The forms by the way can be downloaded in the UKBA site. You have to print and fill out those forms. I provided three (3): Family Settlement Form, Financial Requirement/VAF4f/Appendix 2 Form and the Sponsorship Undertaking Form signed by your fiance.

Please do take note that you have to provide photocopies of all your original documents so you can have it back.

Hang around here at BF. You'll gonna get loads of info from reliable people. ;)

If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.:)

Hello again Anne, I am actually waiting for my English certificate to be released on the 23rd of July :) hopefully i will get the band score needed, (bandscore of 4 , right?)
Re the TB Screening, do i have to go and have it ready at any accredited provider either in Manila or Cebu , prior to my online registration?I understand you meant, i have to download all forms needed, fill it up and have it ready for submission at VFS, but i still need to do the online registration FIRST and Foremost , right?

Hi Nickel and welcome to BF, I would strongly suggest that your first move should be for you get your Fiancee heavily involved as he will have to do most of the work for the visa collating the majority of the paperwork required for the visa. You have to work as a team to guarantee success. I note that the last time you saw him was almost a year ago, I doubt that would be seen as a sustaining relationship in the UKBA eyes. I would at least get him to visit you in the Philippines before you apply for the visa. JohnAsh left you a good link which also will link you to the "How to apply for a Fiancee visa" page, have a good look through that to begin with, remember to get your chap to join BF and to get involved.

Please don't be put off with the large amount of paperwork and hassle you have to go through, all your questions can and will be answered here at BF.

    Good luck :)

Regarding the TB Screening please see the link below, I am told the screening can only be done at one centre in Manila, hopefully someone can clarify that.

HI Timmers, Thanks for giving me your insights..Yes he visited me last September and we had a "spiritual wedding , it's a vow done in our church, and since then we have not stopped communicating with each other. We are constantly connected, we talk and send messages everyday.Yes he was the one who prepared the documents needed from his end , and i do from mine also. The only needed document which has not arrived yet is the date of our wedding , since we are yet waiting for my English test result.
Does he need to come back and see me again?

I don't know if he needs to come and see you again as there are no strict rules set by the UKBA, but they do mention about having a sustaining relationship which obviously means the contact between you. I have read that your future husband is a pensioner so he probably has financial restrictions on visiting you more. For me the proof of a sustaining relationship was that I had been to visit my girlfriend about 30 times and had over 500 pages of chat logs over a seven year period and of course lots of photos. We didn't submit all the chat logs (just one page per week) but if I was you I would submit them all. A couple of letters from friends wouldn't go a miss like Marharg suggested earlier. If you have only met once you're going to have to a little work convincing them, as you mentioned earlier, you need to get the visa first time. Remember that they are looking for the slightest reason to decline your application, immigration is a hot potato for the government of the UK and they are trying to show the British public that they are stemming the flow of people into the UK. Immigration is probably in the top three concerns of the British people so anything you can do to make your application watertight then try to do it, enhance and embellish your application :)

I know you'll pass the English test. Judging the way you post in this forum, I think you'll gonna get a score more than it is required;)

For the accredited TB Screening medical center, the Philippines has only one which is in Makati. Here are the details:

International Organisation for Migration Health Centre
15th Floor, Units A and B Trafalgar Plaza
    105 H.V. dela Costa Street
    Salcedo Village
    Makati City 1227
    Metro Manila
    Tel: (632) 883-9339 or (632) 511-8771
Mob: (917) 593-4688 (globe operator) or (919) 993-4667 (smart operator)
    Fax: (632) 883-9377

    Email: International Organisation for Migration

You don't need to register first with visa4uk website in processing the TB Screening. I only registered last week once all the documents are ready.

Timmers is right. You're fiance will be doing most of the work. In my case, my future hubby collected all the evidences that show that he can support me.

Just to clear up about the two letters I submitted, one was a joint letter signed by both of us and the other was a letter from me stating my financial and accommodation support.
