We'll that's Air France cancelled my flight, just got an email from them will have to see if they can reroute me or if they are willing to reroute me but I expect that it will take until the virus clearly has an existing uncontainable foothold in the Phils before the Philippines Government remove the travel restrictions, that will probably not happen till about mid May or late May.

And if they look like they are containing it in the Phils then the restrictions will probably have expanded to include flights from the UK or Europe by then.

So I won't make my daughters graduation after all and neither will her mother who is currently in Seoul in Korea.

If they start putting cities in lockdown, I wonder if they will allow trucks to deliver goods.
Seems like a really big problem is the backlog of empty containers stuck in China.

Would flying via Dohaa or Dubai help?

Well the money and the cheap flight was through KLM, I could take the refund but I think I will see if they can re-route through Singapore first and I would not be surprised if the middle east ends up on the banned list soon.

The WHO apparently do not recommend travel bans but countries like the Phils have employed them anyway.

Flight was mid April after Easter till early May.

So AirFrance rebooked me two days later, which suits me as I had had to guess when my daughter's graduation was going to happen and had to book a longer break than I would otherwise have done, this way I can save some days for later in the year.

It appears that they are amalgamating flights I suppose either because they aren't selling the seats or they are getting a lot of cancellations or both.

I'm a little puzzled as to why there where so many deaths in China due to Covid-19?

    Why are you puzzled Mike?

The death rate there has so far been mirrored elsewhere apart from South Korea where it is still quite low at around 1%.

Close to 200 deaths in Italy....
Outside of Some towns, there are army check points to stop people from leaving or entering...
The unelected, leftist, government coalition is in disarray about the whole affair of the Virus...
Shortage of essential medical equipment, and the sad news of a few European Nations banning the export of such equipment... It is great to be European in moments of need...

I'm afraid we will see more selfishness as time goes on.

Why aren't governments not learning from the original problem in China by still allowing people to congregate in their hundreds of thousands in football stadiums?

It seems like it is profits over peoples' health.

Play the games behind closed doors and show the matches via TV or the internet.

    even better--cancel the match.

If the matches (or any other sport events) are played behind closed doors and televised, people can still watch them.
The problem is that the football club will not earn any revenue from the fans, and of course this is probably why they don't want matches to be behind closed doors.

I did read a while back that there is so much revenue paid by broadcasters to clubs (in the Premier League) that the crowd is not "essential".

Surely this is the solution and at least delay the outbreak and save lives.

We have to be proactive and not reactive.

Italy has started this because there are so many more cases and deaths.
