And there is now a person in England who has acquired the infection without travelling abroad, so far no known connection with anyone who has travelled recently.

I saw this on the front doors of my GP surgery the other day also, Druk1.

The problem with this is that the NHS relies on the honesty of the person who has recently returned.
People could easily 1) not read the notices or 2) deliberately ignore the advice on the notices.

I suppose something is better than nothing.

I wonder if the airports and ports are testing everyone as they arrive?

I travel around all the time and will be using anti-bacterial hand wash and frequently washing my hands every day.

They are TXT'ing it down here mate. Heathrow certainly isn't testing, I sailed through BUT I know someone who had to go to a quarantine "pod" after coming back from Italy, her son was tested, he has influenza A and is awaiting further results, his mum sent my sis a pic of staff in full NBC attire at the door of the pod awaiting them :ninja:

Interesting that they are only testing people who are arriving from danger zones, if I have understood you correctly.
It begs the question of someone coming in to Heathrow from Madrid who had been Italy previously.
I wonder how they know who has been where?
Also did they use temperature monitors on all arrivals?

Didn't see any temperature monitors coming through T2 at heathrow mate, sailed through immigration and out in double-quick time.

Incubation period assumed to be up to 14 days with some evidence of longer incubation up to 24 days, temperature monitors are a joke and really they always have been.

If someone has fever and has been infected with something nasty and they just spent however many hours on an aircraft shedding virus particles, they probably passed back trays which could have been sneezed or coughed over back to the flight attendants who then moved around many other passengers, if they got up to use the loo, they're walking past dozens of passengers, they then use a toilet and the surfaces in that toilet that are about to very shortly be used by passengers fore and aft of that loo, some more coughing and sneezing in the loo and loads of surfaces are contaminated.

When they stop that feverish individual as they walk off the flight down to immigration what do they then do with the few hundred other candidates who just shared that tube for the last few hours, who used those toilets, who interacted with those flight attendants or who just sat there while the infected person walked past and sneezed.

If it is easily transmitted then in the above scenario it is hugely infectious, if it's not so easily transmitted then it's not such a big problem but you are still going to miss the few newly infected passengers on that flight, so do you think a temperature monitor is going to be any use when many newly infected people are walking straight past it.

I'm not challenging you personally Druk, I am challenging the notion that these kind of sensors are any use at all.

You do get about a lot, Druk1 ;)
My life was like that previously. I used to wake up in the morning asking myself which country I was in before I had opened my eyes.
Most of my dreams these days are in different countries, all that travel left it's mark.

Where are you off to soon...which mountains? Sounds like fun.
