It was a genuine response to Apo's post about witholding aid.
To highlight the fact that no matter what, aid will not be witheld.

No need to report the post, who is not following the thread and nitpicking now???

It bore no relevence to the original thread. Surely a good moderator should be consistent?

I think you singled me out unfairly. Other people were involved in that digression including HaloHalo. And some people were interested in that element of the thread. I hear your frustration, but why take it out on me?

Reference to "Johns Mumbo Jumbo Thread" was surely made to use me as a scapegoat for your perception of thread digression. But the forum is full of examples of thread digression but I dont see those being made an example of. Look at the rice digression in the Tesco thread for example.

I didn't pick on you. Don't try to twist things around to suit . won't work.

looks like that you blinked and missed me saying on the thread, that at times I also do some thread hijacking...

    Now, please let it go.

Dom. Thats fine. But how about some consistency. Why that thread in particular. Like others have pointed out thread digression is commonplace but you chose that one in particular, ignoring any of the other current examples. You seemed to wade into that situation like a bulldog chewing on a load of wasps. :D

That thread was important to a couple of people.
And realizing that the OP was not taking part in the ships, oil, pressure, etc, etc, conversation, I chose to split the thread into two, as I did threaten to do.

In fact, as it turned out, the 2 separate threads proved me right through their respective successes, they are still being dabated.
Although, one of them is digressing slightly, again... With some flirting thrown in...

That makes sense. Though other threads pan out that way too. But the bulldog chewing on a bunch of wasps approach?

I only assume those features when my wife spends too much time in TKMX or Debenhams.

With an answer like that it just goes to show you haven't spent much time in the Philippines.

I reckon I spent enough time there, and researched far and wide to be able to express an educated opinion on what I think is a at times, a xenophobic attitude by nearly every official, taxi, tri-cab, tricycle drver, sari-sari owner and what not, as to make them increase prices as soon as a few square inches of white skin appears within view.
My lovely wife, tried to shelter me from that, but I don't wear rose tinted blinkered lenses, I have been around the block a few times...
They seem to think that the "Kano" has lots of "Utang" for them.
incidentally, to my knowledge, there still hasn't been a public thank you from the authorities for the millions donated by the British public after Typhoon Hayan.. "Utang" mentality...

I espressed my personal view on the subject of retirement and I did consider for a long time retiring there, but it ain't for me, as often admitted.
I have a very low threshold on having the mickey blatantly taken out of, and I feel that my subsequent reaction would not go down very well with any Tom, Dick or Bing-Bong that crosses my wrong side.
So, apart from the odd vastly overpriced holiday, I won't spend much more time overthere.

So you can fill your boots....

    Good luck.

Sun, sea and San Miguel. For some I think thats it. I suppose another is that the Mrs is in her own back yard - quite an important one. At the moment many things are cheaper, though not all. And lots of variety of mango. :D

You are guaranteed wall to wall sunshine for half the year. No such thing as a cold day. And the beaches are fantastic.

The sights to be seen in the country are second to none.

For some it is a form of escapism, from the "nasty" UK.

I guess it depends on your outlook on life. It probably doesn't suit a lot of people but it certainly does suit some. Some people live there and complain about everything and that makes me wonder why they bothered in the first place, I mean you'd recce the place before retirement wouldn't you. Then there's a even smaller percentage who adapt and come to love the place even with its flaws.

Reciprocal state pension rights, your state pension will increase same as it does in the UK

There are many good locations excluded from that for example Canada and New Zealand.

Baguio and Tagatay, Baguio in particular has a climate that sounds lovely, 13 centigrade low at night and 25 at the upper end during the day, still never been there, would love to visit.
