I think they have networks to hide them until they get work.

They will find work but it will not be national minimum wage by a long shot.

i meant--lawful work--the type that requires a NI number. a lot of these migrants have paid a lot of money for their boat ride. they cant all be stupid. or is there an outfit in this country that specialises in illegal work placements ?

Probably lots and lots of specialists in that field and it won't be for the benefit of the migrants.

The UK have always had "Cash in hand" agents..
Might have got more difficult for them to operate since I saw them on the streets of London though..
I would imagine, the cheap daily construction labour, farm hand mobs are still active regardless of the risks.

Just Googled "How to get cash in hand work in London..
    Yahoo answers says this!!
Go to the newsagents on the corner of Dalling road , Hammersmith..and there is loads of cash in hand work there...

Or try any newsagent's window in London...

Or if you don't want to try that..look on the gumtree website..

Or pick-up a copy of TNT

I know a guy here in the small town I live in, nice bloke, complete nutter but nice enough, he's in the building trade, brickie but also a jack of all trades, the guy is invisible, he's British born and bred but when he comes to collect a pension they will be saying 'who?' completely invisible and in cash terms he makes almost as much as I do, although he spends the vast majority of it in my local :) and because he works so hard and smokes so hard, the 'hard drinking' hasn't made him fat, he's a skelf.

Not just foreigners that cheat the system here, and I would never do anything to hurt that lads life, even though he's breaking the law he is giving up on a lot of the security that this country provides, his choice.

comes to collect a pension they will be saying 'who?

but then he will just go on pension credit.----its not --at all--dependent on tax or NI contributions--and a lot more than income support. there is no such thing as a poor pensioner in this country--its a myth.

Yeah I know, but they might also be looking to find out why he had been invisible for 48 years, which could see him jailed, he does not care he does not expect to last that long :)

At least he would get three hot meals a day, and a nice comfy bed.

actually--more likely to feel the pinch down south--lots of things more expensive down here. but--none the less--a senior on pension credit will be a lot better off than someone a few months younger still on income support. trust me.

therin lies a big problem Mike if you are at risk from the authorities in your own country your not likely to be voluntarily in touch with them when you want to leave

Great the big empty space will be quickly filled fence builders will be happy

All the Turkish takeaways I know are doing cash in hand and illegal workers and the local curry house its endemic

I agree with that too. Sometimes those who have spent a little time in the Philippines think that just because someone hasnt, that they arent familiar with the Philippines. The sum of its parts might be unique but its many facets are to be seen elsewhere.
