Both the visit and Fiancee visas are 6 month multiple entry visas, you're right about another meeting giving you extra weight when you apply.

Hmm, thank you. And do you know - if we try a visit visa first, and he gets it, and he comes over for say 2 months, can he then apply for a fiancee visa as soon as he gets back to the Philippines? Or does that visa have to expire first? Also, we can't apply for both at the same time can we?

Also, what if someone applies to come for a month or two months on a visit visa. It's granted and they come and go back. Then after two or three months they want to come again? Can they just come again on the same visa or do they have to reapply to come again while that first visa is still running? I can't find the answer to this anywhere. I know visit visas are multiple entry but I don't know if that means you can actually use them that way?

If as you say th visa is multi entry then you can/should be able to go/leave within the validity of the visa dates

Thank you. And one more question, sorry, if he applies for a visit visa and is refused, and we then try the fiancee visa will the failed visit visa have any impact on the fiancee application?

Not neccesarily, although you would need to tell them about the refusal.

There will be no consequence as the visas are entirely different applications with entirely different criteria. If you fail the criteria for say, visit visa then apply for spousal and you have no problem meeting g spousal criteria you will be then awarded a spousal visa.

Yes but it won't "impact" on the second application

Thank you very much. I've been wondering today about whether our stupid government might tighten things up even further and make things even harder. I mean maybe we should jump straight in now with the fiancee visa while I know we meet the criteria.

We can't second guess what the govt will do next of course but as you've seen yourself they're not making things easy for us. If you're happy in the relationship then yea, why delay :)

I wonder what happens if you get a fiancee visa but then you don't feel ready during the 6 months? Can you get another one later or is that your chance gone?

Interesting question to which I dont know the answer. It would certainly turn out to be expensive with 2 sets of fiancee visa fees, if it were possible.

Is he going to need the CFO thing? What does that involve? Can't seem to work out what it is - my brain's stopped working after a weekend of reading visa stuff :/

Take a look at the link below Lisa, my lady has gone to get the sticker today, she had the interview and got the certificate last week. The CFO sticker is required before your loved one can leave the country, he cant leave without it. Note that they apply for it once the visa has been granted and you can only get the sticker on or after the start date of the visa which will be stamped in his passport.

CFO should be easy but I know one or two people have been tripped up, especially when not taking the required paperwork to the interview. Don't worry about this at the moment, worry about it after you have the visa :)

I've been reading more since I posted that. It seems that he could have problems - he has to take all the evidence and persuade them - I've read about people who have had issues, especially at Cebu like Anne says. Timmers, why did your lady have to go back for the sticker? Is it not all issued the same day?

CFO or Commission on Filipino Overseas seminar issues a certificate and sticker. If an applicant attends the seminar without a visa, the CFO officers will only give the certification. Just to save time, one can join the seminar, as Timmers says, after the visa has been granted so that you can get the certificate and the sticker as well.

Good thing there's an online appointment now, unlike before, one must go to the office as early as 4AM to be included in the 15 available slots!!!

Has timmers' lady just got her visa since last week then? I'm just worried about more problems and delays. It's bad enough having to wait all that time for the visa :/

What stage are you up to Anne?
