Enough of this, I left the dark forum because of the hounds hunting me. Back to the topic. Annulment.
in my case we met--here in the UK--through a major free dating site. untill we met--i didnt know she was philipina---or indeed did i have any knowledge of the marriage rules over there. but she told me she was still married--but then so was i.
At least "meeting" on a dating site gives members the option of asking that important question at the beginning.
Hi. @bigmac i run through the thread and realised that I have been on the same boat. I believe you have waited long enough because you really want to be with your fiancé. I used to be a student in England for almost 6 years. On my 3rd year I applied for a divorce and was granted because marriage was void on the first place. On the same year I met the man I call my husband now. I have filed a petition to void my marriage in the Philippines as well so I wouldn't have any problem if I come home. On my 4th year in England I had to extend my visa and UKBA kept my passport for 2 years. If only UKBA did not kept my passport, we could've got married 2 years ago because UK accepts divorce papers(decree absolute) even if i was still waiting for my annulment papers. If your fiancé is there in England you can get married using the divorce papers she has. I know a lot of people who has done this when I was there. I even have a friend who's passport has been kept by UKBA, then requested a new one in Phil embassy. IT is illegal, that is why I did not do it. But you see, they got a way with it. But, they would not be able to go home in the Philippines and use their current husband's surname or declare that they have been married in England when they go back in the Philippines. It could be a long wait, but I believe if we are doing the right thing, and not breaking any law everything will fall in the right place in God's time.
It is very expensive plus sad to say laws here in the Philippines are very ****e. Spending more money doesn't mean you will get annulled as it happened to my parents.. But I heard a situation like this before that they try and just pay money to the other party to not contest or don't be hindrance with annullment.. It depends on your case..
