Ok so I haven't made the visa application yet - delays with the NSO marriage certificate, should be sorted tomorrow though. Application is all done on paper but looking on the website there is the option to apply online so I have filled in all the online data from the paper copy I have but there is no option to add all the financial information from VAF 2 - anyone know why or how this works?
Once you've filled the online (personal details) form in and booked your appointment at the VFS just get the Mrs to take the VAF4a Appendix 2 (financial requirement form) with you for submission.
Oh, and pay VFS the little extra for the VIP documents submission service then the loved one doesn't have to hang around for too long.
Thx for the tip! What does the VFS appointment involve? She is worried that they are going to give her a grilling The NSO Certificate has arrived!! But still one more delay... Waiting now for a DHL parcel to arrive there containing the very latest payslips and bank statements, then its going to happen
You will book your VFS appointment online at the same time you submit your visa application. You will then go along to the VFS office at allotted time and submit the documents for the visa, there is no grilling but make sure the wife knows the basic details of yourself, as in where you will be living in the UK and so on and contact number these are the only questions my girlfriend was asked. They will also do your biometrics, photo and fingerprints.
No grilling. Thats what my wife was afraid of. They stopped interviews a few years back. VFS just take your application papers in. And pass them onto the UKBA.
Just a warning for anyone sending DHL packages - as an afterthought I slipped in 4x20peso notes that I had left in my wallet, the parcel sat at the Reading depot for 3 days before I called them up and they told me it was on hold because there was money in it (even though it was only just over £1). It is in the rules that no money is to be sent so its clearly my fault but I was annoyed that they held the parcel for 3 days and didn't try to contact me! Anyway its in Manila now and has just cleared customs - as soon as she has it in her hand the application will go in to VFS along with a payment for priority service, application appointments are currently next day according to the website so it will all be in the hands of UKBA by next Friday at the latest. One more question (another one more!) the VFS list of requirements includes 'a completed self-assessment form' is this the same as the VAF-2?
Self Assessment form? Thats a new one. Not one we had to fill out. Though I did have fill them out a few months back for HMRC.... Just looked up the VAF2 form That was one we didnt have to fill out. It was kicking about at the time. The theory of the day was that the information on it was already on the online application form which we filled out online, printed off and the wife submitted.
Seems to be a bit different now John. The VAF form is the same as the online application, and you can submit online but still have to print off (why??). The VAF-2 is the appendix for the financial information which can only be submitted on paper on the day - financial info and self-assessment sounds like the same thing but as usual in dealing with immigration the information isn't clear and the terminology inconsistent.
I dont like to say fill it in just to be on the safe side, Steve. Having said that, I hope Mr Timmers or Mr Maharg or Anne will get back to you on this as they are all far more recent than ourselves, date of application-wise.
I would think the self assessment form is what you fill in if you are self employed. In other words, your Tax Return.
Or if you cross over into the higher tax bracket or have other income outside of your employment. I have just had to fill out 3 years worth. Good news is that they owe me.
For the fiancee visa application, we submitted 4 forms: 1. The printed Online Application Form (this is when you book the appointment at VFS) 2. Family Settlement Application Form (VAF4A) 3. Financial Requirement Form (VAF4A Appendix 2) 4. Sponsorship Undertaking Form https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/documents-you-need-to-provide
