I didn't say Boris was the man of the moment I said he needs to be and be as he often refers to Churchill.
As for Churchill to suggest he was detested is a bit strong the election 1946 was a year after the war and yes there was a big if not the biggest swing towards labour seen in modern politics.
Churchill issue is he wouldn't modernise he wanted things as they were pre war years labour offered modernisation he alsofocused to much in Europe and got fixated on the independence of India. By 1950 the swing had gone and Churchill was re-elected along with the Tory party
He was by this time an old man in poor health.

I've said before on much older threads that the description of Churchill as 'detested' that I am portraying came from my father who fought in the north African campaigns and Italy and who was part of the police action in Palestine, his service years were 1942 to 1947 and he was a volunteer not a conscript he volunteered as soon as his study exemption and his studies were complete, he was 24 in 1942.

It is easy to blame the government for many things.
I don't think a Labour government would have done better.
Labour have not stayed in power more often because the electorate vote them out frequently.

For a reason, the people simply don't want them :)

In a meantime, the Tories continue unabated in their quest to line their own pockets and make the well off richer, and the poorer, well, poorer. Innit.:like:

Yes, it does seem like that. Trying to keep it quiet hoping no one will find out. Then watch them all red faced and indignant when caught with their fingers in the till.
Well, what about that! Indeed.

Hope my wife don't see this, she's a devout Duterte fan and got Sarah's picture's and bong bongs for president on tarps all over our wall. I wind her up and say bong bong senior was a dictator.

Will male immigrants in small boats be deterred from coming to the UK from the EU? In the face of the UK’s agreement with Rwanda to send them there for immigration processing?

I think you've missed the irony of Labour's success in 1946.

On reflection I suggest that yu do not understand what is happening in France, you have a bourgeois that consumes 10% of the population, 20% are cadres (professionals) and then you have the working class. Lots of people live in caravan sites and then there are the poor. Macron appeals to those comfortably off, the socialists are decimated, so Le Pen offers another choice.

The French are fed up with the large Muslim population that has come in from Africa and the Arab countries, and after Charlie Hebdo and the killing of 120 plus French - Le Pen is offering to cut down on immigration.

Equally the French do not like being told what to do, and Macron was enforcing the COVID vaccination.

The French consider that Macron is far more right wing than Le Pen may I add…..

I am also French by former marriage, and have never voted in any French election, I do not think that a vote makes a difference, do you?

I am not in any agreement with Le Pen btw .........

More than half of the people crossing the Channel come from Iran.
