In Duma? I remember when the only store of note was Lee Plaza but that was around 25 years ago

Duma's changed hell of a lot since then. The German store is only a small and in the next town where I live, so handy for my sausages and bacon.

That’s what most people notice first. Also watch out for your ring on your finger as it will loosen and you could lose it if not wary.

Mrs Ash weighed herself this morning. She is down to 55 kilograms. From just over 60. So that’s a 6 kilogram weight loss since the end of October. A full stone in other words.

She is never hungry, is not short on energy or essential nutrients except maybe vitamin d which is being topped up by a supplement. What staves off the hunger is the increase in healthy fats. She doesn’t need to snack between meals. And her insulin responses are kept to a low level. Her immune system will be in a good place right now.

This is not today’s fad diet that cannot be sustained. It is completely sustainable and is slowly but surely being adopted across the NHS one way or another to displace all the old nonsense.

Mrs Ash doesn’t view this forum at all, by well done to Mrs Ash, a Filipina from Negros Oriental / Cavite who has been settled in the U.K. since 2011.

Some local news. A patient just up the road from me has completely reversed her T2 diabetes. She is no longer T2. Her blood pressure has dropped significantly and her weight is dropping nicely. All down to a low carbohydrate healthy fat diet. Drug free too. It’s catching on. It will have done her immune system a power of good too. She started at the end of October 2020.

Made with celeriac instead of potato. Cooked like chunky home made chips, using extra virgin olive oil. Seasoned with rock salt crystals and ground pepper.

As a kid my diet revolved around chips... With egg... With beans.... With egg and beans (Christmas) I no longer eat chips except once in a blue moon at McDonald's, HOWEVER the few times I have had sweet potato chips they tasted very nice :like:

I have seen much lower figures for celeriac than that. For example per 100grams serving both raw and cooked:

    Couple of other points Jim.

1] Either way it is considerably less than potato or rice etc.

2] Portion size is important so just a few of the fries would deliver a small glycemic load.

3] In our case we aren’t aiming at Keto, just low carb. So we have a bit of leeway. If doing Keto then you might want to leave them out.

A lot of people I have come across on a low carb diet use celeriac as a low carb potato alternative because it doesn’t raise their blood glucose levels which is the ultimate test.

How’s it going Jim? It will be interesting to see what your doctor says when you visit next.

@JohnAsh I'm still on the strict Keto, on average my carbs are about 12 a day, according to the app carb manager given my height and weight my aim should be 20 net carbs a day.
I'm drinking 6 liters of water a day. But still have a beer belly and I feel bloated. Been told that might be water retention, but I'm losing fat on other places.

Probably losing fat on the inside too. But you can’t see that from the outside.

It sounds like you ought to be burning fat, that is if you are on 20 grams per day. Your body will have flipped to fat burning mode from glucose burning.

In the U.K. we can buy ketone sticks to test to see if you are in ketosis. But am guessing they might not be readily available where you are? They simply verify if you are in fat burning mode or not.

It sounds like you are really going for it!

I feel great like I have a spring in my steps. I have symptoms that I'm in ketosis, dry mouth in the morning, bad breath, leg cramps at night, though I had leg cramps before I went on the keto diet.

The leg cramps can be resolved with salt. I tend to fell a bit more crampy in the legs but not sufficient enough to be a problem. I add plenty of salt to my meals. (No need to go overboard but just add salt like you probably did when you were in your teens and twenties.

The leg cramps occur because there will be less salt in your diet doing Keto.
