What choices are you given in the drop down menu?

And have you logged in using your chaps details?

Note that your sub type will be "settlement" followed by "marriage" if you are intending to bring your chap over to the UK, marry then settle down.

The online form you are filling in online is for your chap to fill in, its basically a personal details form, you can then login using his details.

You cannot really fill it in for him as there is information required that only he will know.

The form asks about travel history, parents details, old passports held, new passport details, personal details, visa application history, the list goes on.

I have looked and I can fill it in for someone else and it does say after I have filled in the details I will be asked what type of visa to apply for which I assume is where the drop down boxes appear

Yes you can open the account for him then the drop down menus will appear but you will not get much further without his input.

Note that when you open the account I believe it remains active for three months, I think its something like that but I could be mistaken.

You're too old to use the term "cool", unless you have grey hair and a ponytail :)

dont worry if you cock it up--just start a new app--we did it 4 times--its soo easy to make a mistake.---especially selecting the "wrong" visa category. so--just play around with the online app--till youre totally ok with it. some questions are VERY confusing---but then i'm an old git. you and your partner can both log into it--seperately or together--and dont forget to save each time. just dont click submit till youre 1000% certain you got it right.

meantime--look at the appendix form--that you fill out by hand and send over with all your docs.

we will have to take a look I think we will practice on my log in and then wen we are 1000% certain my boyfriend can do it for real

I have looked at the appendix form and printed a copy out

I assume that and the end of the form it tell you where to send my docs and appendix

and again I assume at the end it tell you what docs we need or is there a separate sheet telling you what is needed ?

Yes just ask a solicitor to sign the photocopy and stamp it as original passport seen, they know what to do, costs around a fiver. Note that not all solicitors will do it for you.
