It does help if people clearly state what their nationality is (and sex ? ) as well as that of their partner, at the outset. Also where they are domiciled. Otherwise readers may simply become confused and irritated.
Welcome to the forum. I think the pieces of information that are missing are Is either of you British? Is this a same sex relationship? Is the writer British or Filipino? You intend to apply for family of settled person visa correct? Have you met in person? How long have you been in a relationship? Assuming you are same sex I assume you want to either marry or register a civil partnership in the UK please confirm?
hi there yes same sex relationship and I am a UK citizen. We are plying for a settled person visa apart from the online form payment what other forms are needed its so confusing
hi I am mark and a UK citizen - the writer yes a same sex relationship yes we are applying for a family of settled person visa yes I have been to the Philippines twice and met in person and intend to there when my boyfriend gets his interview after he applies on line we have been together since june 2014 yes we plan to marry
not sure--but i dont think family of settled person is correct here. do you plan to marry in the philis and then bring your partner over--or bring over as an unmarried partner and get married here--and settle here ?
then just go for a settlement (marriage ) visa. you pay for the visa fee online when you have completed the online application form. you dont pay the IHS surcharge at this stage. this provides a 6 month visa to get married here--then apply for FLR and then pay the first IHS surcharge. just follow the instructions on the online app. but check out you meet the financial and accommodation criteria.
well he can live with me I can support oth of us on my wage why don't you think family of settled person............we can get married within 6months on that visa
and I just looked at the marriage visa....he can only stay here for 6 months then he has to leave and it says you can swop or change to another visa so I am lost as to y you said family of a settled person visa is wrong
That's the marriage visa for where you come here, get married, and leave. You need the one that used to be the fiancee visa, where you come, get married, then change to flr. It is a settlement visa, and much more costly with more conditions. The family of a settled person is not the one, I assume, because you are not yet family. If looking for a visa just as partners you need proof of living together for 2 years.
Mark--youre not a settled person--you are a British citizen exercising your right to bring in your partner. family of settled person means close relations of an immigrant settled here. your partner needs a settlement ( marriage ) visa--commonly called a fiancee visa. its straightforward enough. its valid for 6 months--in which you get married--then your partner applies for Further Leave to Remain for 2 & i/2 years--then repeats. its part of the 5 years settlement process---and will cost you---and me --and many others---a small fortune. the other visa you allude to is a marriage visit visa--which is exactly that--a visit visa to marry here---then leave --to live in another country. its valid for 6 months. its cheap. i suggest to register online and read the online app. https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/Account/login then read through the appendix form which you fill out in writing https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/270484/VAF4A-Appendix2.pdf
thanks for your help how long you on here for ? when you read the the family of a settled person it say if your partner is a british citizen which I am...
but your partner is not family--yet. i think your making your visa application far more complicated than it need be.
Mark, your partner is not family yet. You need the visa that people are saying. The settlement visa. When we applied it was called a fiance visa Now it is the mariage settlement visa I think. The one you are being told about. The route you need to take is the expensive one. There is no way round it if you are a UK citizen living in the UK.
hi there the marriage visa ( old version fiancé visa ) is this the expensive way ??? I must be sounding thick every time I look for this settlement visa I keep ending up back looking at the family of a settled person ??
mark---go online to the link i put earlier to the online visa app. register--there are 2 drop down boxes you need to select---settlement (marriage ). do not confuse your situation with a living together partnership--which has to be a provable 2 years minimum the settlement ( marriage ) visa is going to cost you over £5000 in fees and IHS surcharge over the next 5 years. we are all in the same boat.
the cost is not an issue for me over the 5 years..... I just cant seen to find the drop down boxes you mention
