Hello! I'm Carmela or Ella as most of my Cebu friends calls me in that name. I'm new here and I'm glad to finally be an "active" member of this site. I have been checking this site from time to time to get info's but finally decided to introduce myself as I maybe needing "experts" advices soon when we formally lodge our UK Fiancee visa. My boyfriend and I had only been together for few months but decided to take it to the next level. He is a lovely man and from Lewisham London. We are now preparing for an English Language exam and TB test which is scheduled in two weeks. I'm just really curious on how long the visa result would come out once we lodge our application to the UK embassy? The fastest and the longest time? My boyfriend wants to formally lodge the application this May 2015 and hopes to get result sooner so I can be there before the end of Summer which is in September? He is worried that I may get ill when I arrive in London during winter. Anw, I do hope to find new friends here and perhaps if someone is just around Lewisham we could have coffee or nice tea someday? Thanks!
Yes. You need the English Language test certification and a good TB test result. The Fiancee visa can take up to 3 months after application submissions. Sometimes a lot less though. No logical reason for the variance but it can vary a lot.
My wife arrived on October 1st. She did find it cold. But no, she did not fall ill. We just made sure she had plenty of warm clothes.
Ours took about 2 months before we heard. It can take a time. When my then fiancee arrived in the UK there was snow on the ground. She was fine. She actually seems to get ill less frequently here than she did when she was in The Philippines.
Careful with the English test by the way. They have recently changed the list of places you can go to take it.
Welcome to British Filipino Ella. I too came from Cebu. You got good advice about English test and TB screening certification. It would be worth pointing out that the British Embassy has 1 appointed centre where you can submit your entry clearance visa application ( I just don't want you to go straight to UK Embassy in Taguig). The appointed visa application centre is at VFS Global Philippines. There are 2 sites--in Pasong Tamo extension, Makati and in Keppel Center, Cebu City. All the best with your application, Ella.
Hello Ella, welcome to BF, you can find all the information you need regarding the visa application on this site, good luck young lady Oh, and just ask a question here if you need some information.
Hi Guys! Thank you so much. I'm quite excited and nervous at the same time. Lol @Maharg, i hope we get our visa in two months time also as LDR is really difficult. @Anne, Hi dai! I'm glad naay bisdak sad dinhi. Yes, ako na naadtuan ang office sa Keppel Ayala to inquire. Mayra naa rapud office sa Cebu. Dili na kinahanglan mag travel sa Manila. @JohnAsh, my boyfriend is just worried. He knows that i easily feel cold even if the temperature for him is actually hot. And worries that I may get sick in my first few months in London. @Timmers, Thank you! And yes we met in Cebu. He came to visit me last Feb and he will be back this month. Does the UK embassy looks into the length of the couples relationship? Like in our situation, we are officially in a relationship two months now, does it matter? But it really feels like we have known each other for years already. I really hope it wont affect our application and they wont base it in the length of the relationship.
Yes Sir, we met. Last Feb and for the second time, this end month of July. I'm just worried if the embassy would base their decision to the length of the relationship?
Don't worry about that, as long as you have met in person, that is the requirement of the UKVI, more pictures, correspondence and chat logs you have the better, they just want to see that your relationship is sustaining.
Thanks @Timmers! I was really worried about this one. Good thing i like taking photos (he's not really a fan) especially couple selfies. Lol. UK embassy may get overwhelmed of the loads of couple selfies I'm gonna attach in our application. Lol
They don't worry about the length so much, but make sure you get plenty of evidence of the relationship such as photos, chat, plane tickets, places you've stayed receipts etc. The more of that you have, the better.
Just put say six pictures per A4 paper with little captions on, where you were and the date, better still if they are time stamped as well.
Try to get pictures other than just selfies, as they may start to look similar. try to get photos taken from a bit further back, in different locations, with different people (family, friends etc) with you wearing different clothes.
Thank you. I forgot to keep the plane ticket for his first flight here. Perhaps an Itinerary sent thru email and have it printed is also enough? Or they really need the actual old ticket? Argh.
Right, thanks for pointing this out. I will definitely review or old pictures and get those that has background.
