This is all coming back to the discussion @Howerd started the other day, he has got his wife to change her passport to her new married name before coming to the UK, a very good move, saves all this hassle.

My wife used her married name for the FLR and filled in other names as applicable, whatever happens you are walking out of the office with a BRP showing the name in the passport, the passport name is the key for many official UK documents.

At the end of the day I don't suppose it matters what name the passport or BRP is in, the fact that you have got the FLR is the thing to rejoice.

We never had any hassle with my wifes maiden name in her passport. If you organise it right from the off it is not a problem.

You can use both. We did that.

If your maiden name is Gwendolin Aquino Arroyo and your hubby is called John Smith, then use Gwendolin Arroyo Smith for all documentation like banking, utilities, tax purposes etc etc until you change your passport, when it will remain unchanged anyway unless you choose not to.

It actually works very well. Particularly with the Filipino naming convention after marriage. We found that anybody seeing the name written that way, with the passport in the maiden name alongside the hubbies documents in his name, seemed to jump to what was the obvious and correct conclusion.

When travelling we always tucked a copy of the marriage certificate in my wifes passport as ultimate proof.

I agree. It probably is a good idea. But there are several good reasons why you might not want to do it that way. Not forgetting the Fiance visa route where there is no choice but to leave it in the maiden name until you are finally married in the UK.

Hi there, Im now filling up the section 7 in FLR(M) im confused about this matter. Our situation is like this : When i apply a fiancee Visa in VFS my husband financial documents that i passed is his last employee in Bristol, now his working here in Cumbria, new Company. My Question is, do i need to have a new financial documents he has here in Cumbria? or i can still used his financial records that i passed before in VFS Office??. i apply in VFS Office November 2014 which means all financial documents that i passed is last year, and now its July 2015.

ohh gosh, if it need a new Financial documents earlier this year, im running out of time, im planning to apply Premium Service Center in Liverpool this 2nd week of July:(:(.

The FLR(M) is basically the same process as you went through when you applied for your Fiancée visa, you will have to submit his last six months bank statements and pay slips as before, including a letter from his employer stating how much he earns and so on. If he has changed companies then just make a note of that on the additional information page, do the same if you have changed address also just to make things clear to the Case Officer. At least when applying using the Premium service you have chance to discuss with the Case Officer any points of concern that may arise during the process. If you are short of some important documents for example I am pretty sure they would allow you time to submit them before a certain date and just put the application on hold. As you will see when you go to Liverpool, its all a little bit more civilized then when you submitted your application in Manila.

In a nutshell you just need to update your financial information from the Fiancée visa before submission.

Ohhh, so i will just carry on my husband Financial Docs when i apply my Fiancee Visa and i will just note there the change of Address since his Bank Account before is in his last address not today. And to make sure, i will also provide his latest Bank Statement with his current address now.

It is quite a good experience at the Liverpool UKVI office, its quite well organized and it doesn't take that long to get the visa.

You will have to pay the new NHS surcharge this time around too.
