Hi guys, first time posting so I guess I finally need some help. Im just a little stuck on filling out the application form for the marriage visitor visa and I cant find any answers on any websites to help me so im hoping someone can give me some advice on here please

So my problem is this, on the spouse/partner section of the visa after I have filled that in the next two boxes underneath ask for details of mother and father, my question is is that details of my mother and father or is that the details of my fiances mother and father as she is the applicant filling in the form. Just with it been in the same section of the spouse/partner is making me think that I should use my parents details. Any help would be greatly appreciated thankyou very much. Awesome forum BTW ive been visiting for a long time now and the advice is awesome

I dont know this form Rick. But from what you say it sounds like it refers to your mother / father if it is in the spouse / partner section.

Yes, that would be your parents' details they require.

Rick, the most common route which involves marriage in the UK is the Spouse Visa. Any reason why you arent thinking of that route?

    Hi John

Yeah the reason we want to do the marriage visitor visa is that my partner is currently working in Saudi as a nurse and is locked into a contract for another year. So in the mean time we wanted to do it this way so im able to go visit her over there whilst she works on everything she needs to be able to obtain a spouse visa, with her been a nurse she has to do language tests and things like that to enable her to get registered as a nurse in the UK. So in the meantime we wanted to do the marriage visitor visa do get the ball rolling. We have all the documents we need so far going off the government website I just wondered if anybody had already gone down this route and could share an experience

It isnt the most common of routes.

Sounds like you have a good chance with it as your partner will be able to demostrate a need to return to the Philippines / Saudi after her visit which is a key factor with this type (Visit Visa) of visa. And only £83 too. :D

So we have everything sorted now but the one thing that is snagging us is giving the notice for intent to marry. Can anybody give me the exact number of days we have to allow and be in the UK for? We have our ceremony booked for 26th September 2014

Biometrics booked for August 13th. We have decided to marry in Scotland now as we can give notice by post we dont need to be in the country for a certain amount of time to serve our notice which is a bonus!

So everything has been completed and submitted and now we play the waiting game. I notice the Gov.Uk website is no longer showing processing times for visas it has been saying unavailable for the past three weeks. Can anyone shed any light on the waiting times or do we just have to sit tight and shut up till it arrives?

I guess one has to play the waiting game on the website processing times listings too.

Cross fingers Rick. Hopefully yours will be a bit quicker than some recently who have been taking up to 3 months.

Annes took twenty days, I seem to recall.

Hahaha yeah and we have already started discussing that visa as well. I suppose once you have done one then the second one cant be that bad as you sort of know what to expect and things like that. Good luck with your visa how long have you been waiting so far?

My good lady only arrived here in the UK two weeks ago (got the Fiancée visa in 50 days including weekends) , like you say, the FLR will be more of a formality. Just booked my appointment at the Registry Office to give notice of marriage and we hope to get married in September. After the FLR we can have a little respite from the visa merry-go-round for two and a half years.
