    I remember World Cup Willie.
I was 10 at the time and had lots of mementos.

After the final the ground-breaking movie "Goal" was released.
My family went to see it at a cinema in Liverpool.

It was a better way of showing football. Colour, great camera work and the real sounds of footballers on the pitch.

Perhaps if all the teams agree to take the knee before each kick off in order to recognize the deaths and displacement of the people that died in order for this event to take place on time,I may watch a game or two.

Revealed: 6,500 migrant workers have died in Qatar since World Cup awarded

Exclusive: Thousands of workers evicted in Qatar's capital ahead of World Cup
DOHA, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Qatar has emptied apartment blocks housing thousands of foreign workers in the same areas in the centre of the capital Doha where visiting soccer fans will stay during the World Cup, workers who were evicted from their homes told Reuters.

They said more than a dozen buildings had been evacuated and shut down by authorities, forcing the mainly Asian and African workers to seek what shelter they could - including bedding down on the pavement outside one of their former homes.

The world cup will not distract me from following Wrexham in its adventurous new dizzying heights of fame, fortunes, clean sheets and a return to the championship after 15 years in the doldrums of the National League.

Thankfully, Italy, is not in Qatar as it did not qualify, thus, gratefully avoiding further embarassing humiliations

    On a more serious note

The situation over there is verging on the ridiculous. Millions of cans of unsold Bud stacked to the rafters in huge warehouses.
FIFA boss revealing, himself, to being a nunpty in being taken for a ride by the strict rulers of a country that comes up with new rules as and when they dictate.
British spokespeople and figure head celebrities taking the Qatari money against all the principle they stood for before the cheque book was opened up..
I dearly wish for the Prince of Wales to stay at home and not travel there.

    This will not go away

You might not be able to get drunk in Qatar but at least you can still get stoned.
