Has it? For every link you can post I can find an opposing gateway drug myth link, the biggest gateway drugs are tobacco and alcohol, they are in most homes on a weekly basis, children watching their parents vices copy them, that I know, and so it begins.......

Sorry totally disagree, that connection has never been anything more than an assumption or a deliberate assertion without evidence.

And remember Dom I admitted on here that Cannabis and me are a bad mix I am one of the very very few who suffered a psychosis due to Cannabis use, I would never touch the stuff but I don't harbour unfounded opinions about its dangers, it is very very safe way safer than alcohol.

It doesn't knock you out, it makes you feel happy and relaxed you get a buzz and you are conscious during the experience, hash users would use the term mellow to describe how they feel on it.

People get the giggles on hash and a lot of other physical experiences and sensations can be enhanced.

    I said "Cannabis"....

Besides, alcohol in Southern Europe is not abused like in northern countries.
It is only the younger generations that learnt to drink to excess due to copying other young northern idiots getting wasted while on holiday.
As per tobacco products it is mainly peer pressure rather than copying the parents.

I know you said cannabis, tobacco (or alcohol) - cannabis-whatever else, the vast majority of children don't see their parents high on cannabis at first, they see them drunk or smoking a ciggie, that's the gate opening.

Cannabis doesn't knock you out,I have sat around enough people smoking to realise that, it relaxes them, nowadays people also smoke for flavour, to relax, they enjoy the smell etc.

Vaping is also included now, but it's a bit like what came first the chicken or the egg, some drug, narcotic, stuporific or whatever leads to cannabis, its that original which is the "Gateway", cannabis is just somewhere further along the path.

i actually meant hard drugs..heroin etc.

the only time i "tried " that was when i was rushed into Haslar hospital in Gosport with a heart attack. The surgeon commander asked me if i had seen the film "trainspotting"..i had no idea what he meant, I was then shot up with morphine and i woke up next day.

I used to work on the afghan/Pakistan border, NWFP, a long time ago, I had an Austrian girlfriend who worked for an NGO charity helping afghan refugees, she loved pure opium which given the areas nickname of the golden crescent meant she partook regularly, she often used to totally pass out comatose, this led to a parting of the ways between us :ninja:

I knew plenty of people who were smoking hash as adolescents, they all got through College or Uni with good degrees :D

Memory: you can't remember what you said 10 seconds ago and usually find that fact hysterically funny and then you forget why you are laughing but find that so funny that you laugh even more.

Learning: with the memory problem above you can't really get anywhere with the learning thing, and if you thought about it while you were high you would find that hysterically funny and then forget why you were laughing etc. etc......

Impulse control: you suddenly want to eat anything and everything because wow man it's sooooooo.... goood.........

Pot heads are harmless, they get the munchies and lie around on the floor a lot :)

The biggest change is that tobacco is not accepted as it was ten years or more ago.
I don't know what younger people do these days if they get stoned.

    Jeez, I'm getting old.

For sure, 7000 chemicals in a ciggie 70 of which are carcinogens, in cash terms smokers cost the NHS two billion quid+ a year, my parents were chain smokers, filthy antisocial habit which people are now waking up to. If Raleigh sailed down the Thames returning from the new world puffing his pipe nowadays, and we could forsee the dangers of his discovery he would end his day's in a tower of London dungeon and his golden Virginia tobacco destroyed :ninja:

I chatted to a doctor earlier, he told me that legal cannabis here has seen a drop in under 30's smoking tobacco as most prefer to smoke CBD or full spectrum cannabis.
