I concur. If I do retire there I'd love to island hop as a main interest and maybe write about them. I get a little bored with the "eat at the mall" routine day out.

Now that does appeal and perfect for a lazy weekend -

If you did that everyday you run out of decent places to eat before the week was out IMO

    Doesn't it just.
After the New Year I think we'll be going.

We deserve a restful break after the hectic year we've had.
I often wonder how I ever found the time to spend every day at work :D

Welcome aboard Richard.. visit Davao too if you can... if only I am there, I will show you around... 7,107 amazing islands is more than enough to tell you that Philippines is indeed a (rough) jewel...

    Been to Britannia Islands......wonderful.
I bought some brilliant cutting boards there made from Iron Wood (Magkono) best cutting boards I ever came by.

We had some great times touring around Surigao del Sur
I'd not heard about the Britania Islands until then. Truly breathtaking and a genuine paradise.
Takes a time to reach there from Davao City but what a place to be

    Hello and :welcome:here, Richard_w1986 :)
Bootsonground pretty much said it all......
Your plan to revisit the Philippines is a good one :like:.
You will know how beautiful Filipinas are and you will be spoilt for choice.....

I met my wife over there and she is quite a looker in my eyes.

I was in conversation with a friend when this woman walked up, told us we were both "gwapo" and gave me her phone number.

Life has never been the same!

(Although I turned down the 900 pesos a day she was offering to work as foreign extra on a movie...)

I'd take £12.50 a day over there for a bit of illegal working on a tourist visa ;) :D

I was so smitten that I would have taken it, just for the chance to chat her up, but I was flying out the very next day, so I got her number, texted her each time I changed planes and phoned her as soon as I walked through my own front door.

Hi methersgate. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I must say your partner is absolutely beautiful! I'd think myself extreamly lucky to meet a woman half as pretty as her. I'm sure she is an amazing person inside too as well as out. You're a lucky man. Here's hoping I will be as lucky on my trip

    Hi florgeW.

I plan to travel around a lot more on my next visit so I'm sure I will visit Davao at some point too. I would love to take you up on your offer of showing me around. I can't think of a better way of immersing myself in the true Philippine culture than being guided by a local. So thank you very much :)

Alas! I am not there until December (hopefully) 2016 to spend Christmas with my family. Still, let me know when and if you visit Davao and I can ask a family member or friend to show you around... but then, Davao is a friendly place and I'm sure someone will help you ;)

Graham59 I was just scanning and having a read through some of the topics and conversations on here but your comment grabbed me as a bit stereotypical .. Im sorry buddy but the Philippines is one of those places where a person can pull in 5 to 10k php a day very easily through duping silly foreign men to part with their money online. The extreme magnetic pull towards this trade is 100% understandable to me compared to the 300php per day earned working in a supermarket. The girls online are still looking for love believe it or not and I think if the men are not smart enough or wise enough then its their own fault. Scamming is out there always Graham59 but to label it as scammers, prostitutes and ladyboys is horrendous! And now comes the bombshell why I selected your comment, my GF is transgender or as you put it LADYBOY ... She is the most honest person I have ever met in my life and the discrimination in the Philippines puts her in a position were she cannot work and she has had no other option apart from duping fat, old, ugly white guys who were more than happy to part with their money ... Lets change this bullshit about Scammers, Prostitutes and Ladyboys because we have all the same happening here in the UK .. Only difference is if you called a transgender girl in the UK a ladyboy she would beat 7 colours of s***e out of you ....
