I'm not screaming at the definition of the word I know I was right to use it in the context I did in my response to Jim.
Since then it has been various digs from him about you having to explain things to me etc etc.
Like I said in my response to it on one of its posts its input to the forum general audience has been non existent and even on the low carb threads the audience participation outside yourself has been minimal and we all know the reason for that.
Anyway back onto Keto one of the biggest issues for me was getting the right sort of food at the right time sometimes very difficult out on the road all day. The experts have helped me design a menu to help in this area.

Which response to Jim in the Philippines?

Oh for gods sake really both of you guys need to grow up to the point you can communicate as adults without caring about having the last written word, my reply here today was and is totally independent from his post, I had actually forgotten about that post.

I agree with you, that would be hard if you are out on the road, eating at the right time is important to you, you don't want, contrary to accepted knowledge to eat a little all day, that is not good for sugar levels, I'm lucky I have no breakfast but I eat breakfast at lunchtime then I eat dinner at 5:30 pm, but the long fasting period is what gets rid of the weight.

I'm lucky my work pattern lends itself to a low carb diet but at the same time I have only done two things, stopped alcohol and removed rice, bread and pasta from my diet, that's it 34 kilo in 14 months, that's all I did, I still cook my own recipes for Chinese and Indian food no different to the last 30 years of my cooking and a year later I got rid of 34 kg

If you are getting professional advice and that advice is keto then we are all in agreement, if we are still arguing then we are arguing about semantics.

I've started my Keto journey 3 weeks. Currently on a OMAD (One meal a day) regime. I can see the difference already and others have noticed as well.

Good luck, it does work, at the beginning you will lose a lot of water as you burn up your glycogen stores and that can go back on very rapidly if you increase your carbohydrate intake again, I've deliberately experimented with that for myself but overall it will work, one meal a day would be a bit extreme for me though, I eat twice a day but fairly close together usually within 6 hours of each other, and I will eat good quality mixed nuts at other times of day, just to help with getting enough fibre.

A weight watchers executive admitting it’s a good business model because people fail and have to come back again (and again…)

As obesity escalates, the diet business is booming. In this four-part series, Jacques Peretti investigates the connections between obesity and weight loss, and confronts some of the men making a fortune from our desire to become thin. Jacques examines the scientific reasons why so many diets fail long term and why - in spite of this failure - we go back to them again and again. He also speaks to a former director of Weight Watchers and meets other industry leaders, including Slimfast billionaire Danny Abrahams and Pierre Dukan, of the Dukan diet.

You sound like you are well on the way. What prompted you to start, David?

There is an excellent OMAD Facebook group and OMAD yields fantastic results. I tend to slip towards the late breakfast leading to two meals a day but find it hard to achieve that.

Some people find Keto isn’t enough and have to go low fat too. As we are all different it’s a case of finding what’s optimal for the individual.

I eat lots of healthy fats and find it works. Same goes for a lot of people and under GP supervision too. I just keep a tight reign on the carbs. Some need to go tighter than others.

I eat a lot of peanuts. I find that they are very filling. And I don’t stint on the green veggies for fibre and water intake. Also one can simply drink more to compensate.

I managed it on the road, Oss. Driving for Amazon. It is do-able if you want to. I buy keto bread rolls. Saves me making them. They are a bit pricey but what is the value to each of us of one’s good health.

Correct about the grazing. It needs to be 2 meals or three meals without snacking, because of the insulin responses involved.

During and after the pandemic, I caught myself in the mirror and I was certainly not happy with the shape that I was in. Watched a video from Dr Eric Berg about intermittent fasting and the benefits of this.

Did start off with a 18 hour fast with a 6 hour eating window. Started to see results from this and already gone down a trouser size. What I noticed from this was that my hunger cravings slowly stopped and didn't feel as hungry as much

Also I've found that I have eaten more vegetables than ever in my entire life. Fills me up and knowing there calorific value is quite low as well.

I like green veggies like broccoli and asparagus, fried in butter.

There are a few books listed here. I didn’t include Eric. I didn’t get around to it. I couldn’t afford the time on it either. Also I was trying to set it up for the Public Health Collaboration but they are aiming to go with Microsoft.

You find that (good) fat and protein are very filling. I find a good cooked breakfast keeps me going for longer.

Intermittent fasting works well to. We don’t need as much food as we think we do, especially if carrying a fair bit of fat. Our bodies are a hybrid and run very well when the fuel is body fat.

Vast job profile difference between a parcel van on the road and tramping in a 44 tonnes truck.
Parcel van home every night plenty of in and out the van good exercise etc i remember it well. Good fun days. HGV early starts late finishes only crap food available in many outlets, keeping your own food fresh and varied but overcome that with the help of experts.

Yes, but you probably have a nice little fridge in the HGV?

Sadly not as I only joined this company from a previous role during covid, and am far down the chain for a new truck and in the past the owner has only run mid range spec trucks so that's what I have an old 66 plate! and if I did I wouldn't of been having difficulty keeping food fresh!
Still I am told I am in line for a new truck in July and the company are putting in cool boxes microwaves and tv's.so we are told. But I will be closer to retiring by July lol

I seem to remember that the US marines did a ketogenic trial and the results were positive. Who wouldn’t want their troops to be able to switch to using their stored resources , rather than carrying them, with little to no effect on performance?
