Wife has been in the UK for 2 months and still no bank documents

    Yes. They sometimes make the rules up as they go along. To cut a long story short, my wife's bank account application was farcical.

    That's a pretty dam clear photo of you both! :D

    If all else fails you could always consider the HSBC Passport Account.
    Specifically for newcomers to UK
    The downside is that there is a monthly charge and initial 12 month contract.

    Just a suggestion as a fall back position.

    We had no problem opening a joint account at Lioyds I already hold an account with them and although I had to "advise" the advisor all done in an hour and a half card arrived next day but we walked out with the account numbers having deposited £50 used national health registration card WTC letter Passports:like:

    Advise the advisor. I know that syndrome. We had problems along those lines too.

    I can empathise with the advisors to the Home office is not wxactly up front on their obligations under europe and you have to really dig to find info
