I agree with you Boots, but I think there are a lot of banana skins for him to slip on between where he is now and the Whitehouse.

    YEP!!! Lots..
I want good odds..But I think he has a great chance of being the GOP nomination based on how much Money he has given to the other candidates over the years.. Notice how polite they have been to him thus far...
Lots of leverage..Far more than his opposition can handle?

I understand where you are coming from, maybe someone will take you up on the bet.

I think he stands a good chance of winning, especially given that his opposition is weak.

The opposition are very weak .. Not only that but the GOP are accusing Trump of having democrat leanings... A bit like Reagan had!
IMO..Trump has to win to save the USA from debt carnage..
The UK need to follow his lead.. Once interest rates rise both countries will be in deep ****... Just saying!

I think you could be right about the interest rates, its going to catch a lot of people out when they rise, and rise they will.

U.K has a £1.56 trillion debt... Pretty close to 100 % of GDP.
Damned right it will make a difference.. Anyone that has a large mortgage can understand that.

Does Donald Trump really understand what he's doing to US politics?

It seems his favorability numbers are not just getting higher they're reversing previous trends.
It's just amazing, he can say stuff that should bring him down in a wink, it doesn't.
He can avoid stating his policies on most things which should normally create the image of a lightweight, it doesn't
He can be so overly controntational and aggresive as to turn people right off him as a serious candidate, it doesn't.

There's a long long way to go and now it seems the others need some serious change in strategy

    What's going on here ?

    Fascinating stuff almost daily.

(yes, can to watch US news programmes here on my cable TV network)

His honesty and forthrightness is a breath of fresh air. They like it.
They are sick to death of Politicians lying to them.
He says he has no time for Political correctness and neither does America. They seem to like that also.
    I do too!
Will it last? I hope it does.

I know what you're getting into.
Donald Trump is indeed a more straight-forward person. But I don't think he is what America needs right now.

They need a diplomat, and Trump is not that guy. With all the crisis happening: the ISIS, Russia, China disputes, etc. US has to play it safe and be more amiable and diplomatic with other nations.

    Trump won't be that guy.

or they could go the other way around and look for a more militaristic, tough guy. Someone who'll emit strength like Putin. Trump is a businessman and is 'in-between' those. They need someone on the end of either spectrum.

Sadly there's no candidate right now that fits those descriptions.

IMO US does not need a diplomat as leader. I think they need a strong leader who put US first and still believes in the American Dream and home of the brave.

Again just my thinking but President Obama has been a 'puppy dog' always eager to roll over. Time to put US in front.

Four of Trump's companies have gone bust and he has had numerous multi-million dollar civil lawsuits over the years. Then the alleged links to the Mafia. Does America really want to trust this man?

It looks that way thus far given the polls.. He was accused early on of not being a true Republican..IMO there are a lot of democratic voters switching on to him given all the social unrest in recent months and Obama`s indifference for law and order and just lately, murdered Policemen egged on by Black left wing activists.
Its far too early to say how he will fare once the other candidates start dropping out though..
Regardless..Great entertainment.. Very rare in Politics these days!

The Democats are also in a big mess.. Clintons popularity has dropped like a stone..She can no longer be trusted given the email scandals that are NOT going away.
Its hard to believe that the only candidate they can think to put forward is Joe Biden!!
Regardless of who wins the G.O.P candidacy, the Republicans look favourite to form the next Government.
I just hope its TRUMP that leads them!!

Apparently, Kanye West is also going to run.

Says a lot about the upcoming US election. You have Trump and you have Kanye West. Will be entertaining at the very least.

Arnold Schwarzenegger should join too!

    That would be just hilarious.

The man's a buffoon and IMO he hasn't a chance of becoming president.
He spent Obama's first term leading a campaign saying that the president wasn't American...... He was wrong
He's upset every latino by labeling Mexicans as rapist's and thieves and has also turned a lot of women off with his recent attack on Megyn Kelly. He attacks China for stealing jobs from the US and then he's shown to be a hypocrite for his Donald Trump signature clothing collection is actually made in China and Mexico.
I'm quite sure that the Democrats have got their fingers crossed that he gets nominated by the GOP because they'll bury him at election time.

Poll: Donald Trump surges to 32% support

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump has become the first Republican presidential candidate to top 30% support in the race for the Republican nomination, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll, which finds the businessman pulling well away from the rest of the GOP field.

Trump gained 8 points since August to land at 32% support, and has nearly tripled his support since just after he launched his campaign in June. The new poll finds former neurosurgeon Ben Carson rising 10 points to land in second place with 19%. Together, these two non-politicians now hold the support of a majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, and separately, both are significantly ahead of all other competitors.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush stands in third place with 9%, down 4 points since August, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz holds fourth place with 7%. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker follow at 5%, with all other candidates at 3% or less, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who notched the only other statistically significant shift in the poll by falling 5 points since August.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump leads Democrat Hillary Clinton head-to-head, according to a new poll released Friday.

The poll by SurveyUSA finds that matched up directly, Trump garners 45 percent to Clinton’s 40 percent.

In other head-to-head matchups, Trump beats out Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) by 44 percent to 40 percent; Vice President Joe Biden by 44 percent to 42 percent; and former Vice President Al Gore by 44 percent to 41 percent.

Trump’s surge past Clinton marks a dramatic turnaround in the polls.

A CNN/ORC sampling of national voters in late June — just days after Trump entered the race — found that 59 percent supported Clinton to 34 percent picking Trump in a head-to-head race.

The same poll taken in July saw Clinton at 57 percent to Trump at 38 percent. And a version taken in August had Clinton with 52 percent support and Trump with 43 percent.

Trump has seen his campaign’s popularity surge through the summer while Clinton’s has struggled with voter concerns over her transparency and trustworthiness as secretary of State.

The poll also found that 30 percent of respondents believe Trump will eventually be the Republican nominee, leading the field.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush came in second, with 20 percent saying they expect him to win the nomination. Following Bush in order were retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

The poll surveyed 1,000 adults across the nation Sept. 2-3, and it had a margin of error of 3.3 percent.
