Costa Blanca - Benidorm anyone - Come on down !:D

You made me think of my grandparents, probably from the first generation that used to go to Benidorm every year, they loved it.
They'd come back all tanned and with duty free fags and gifts for us - nearly 60 years ago now... lucky generation in some ways.

I first went to Benidorm late 70s (group of Foden apprentices) had a wild time from what I can remember. Obligatory souvenirs were Castanets, Wine pouring jug, straw donkey, small spears that are stabbed into a bull in a bullfight(cruel) straw hat and a dose of the clap( for many but not me)

It's strange how we all have different experiences of airlines, I personally rated Air France as my favourite airline when i used to fly to China and I have no worries whatsoever in flying with them, in fact i would go so far as to say it is my preferred airline.

Yes, so now we can just stay in UK and it feels like being in the Middle East or Africas (without the heat!)

How would you rate Charles De Gaulle airport?

I'm more worried about the tales of long difficult transfer times and a difficult to navigate airport than I am about Air France.

Never been there, I would fly into Alicante and my friend would pick me up and drive past Benidorm on the way up to Javea.

I did a little bit of photography in Alicante once as that was the end point of my friend's one year swimming challenge, Alicante was very nice with a beautiful beach front area. I liked my morning and afternoon there.

    Me neither!

Spain is an amazing and beautiful country - strange how an influx of foreigners and can quickly ruin parts of it!

I lived and worked down the other end, Costa del Sol, with all the nice golf courses - used to hide when we saw the partying Brits coming!!!

What a hilarious tv series though.

(I've only been to Gran Canaria...with a couple of other lads, at New Year, 1978. Can't remember much, as pissed out of our heads most of the time...the rest flat out with heat stroke. o_O )

    It's a stunningly beautiful country I agree.

This is the bit I've spent some time in, Calpe area and Xàbia or Jávea, I think there is a third spelling as well for Jávea :)

I took that aerial shot the last time I went there in December 2017, this B&W version is superior to the colour version in my opinion but I also don't know right now where I put the colour one :)

Back to the thread topic, as I've said before I expect forums like these to die as time goes on.

The UK in particular is becoming less and less attractive to Filipinos and locally in the Philippines the culture is changing there are better opportinities in the big cities although things are still pretty desperate for a lot of people but a lot of folk like their home and not so many lassies or lads will be seeking a foreign marriage as clearly the market in the UK has contracted considerably, in reality the cost of living in the UK apart from housing is not that different any more from the Philippines and UK salaries are not sufficient for most ordinary folk to fund foreign adventures anymore.

That's what everyone wanted is it not?

    These sites will die eventually,

We have actually had quite high traffic in recent times but I don't know if that is actual page reads or bot reads, I'll need to check the stats again soon, but Mike as OP is right to bring up the subject, times have changed.

I used to go up into those hills too, Jim.
Nice views and your B&W photo is excellent.

I spent a long time living in Spain in various places but I used to steer clear of the British bars as I preferred to mix with the locals and improve my Spanish.
Lots of Brits seemed to be drunks.

I have honestly never had a problem, I was last in CDG 2 years ago when we transited through CDG on the way to Rome, if i am transiting through any airport as soon as i arrive i make a beeline for the destinations board check out my flight and gate No and head for that gate, once i have found my gate then i relax and chill taking time to check out the shops, duty free etc etc.

I've always avoided the place because of the horror stories I used to hear about people have problems with connecting flights - so long ago now but I think you used to get bussed or trained to another airport in/nearly in Paris and people used to end up getting disconnected from their luggage etc. etc. this was a long long time ago though!!!

Thanks, I kind of do that as well, although I know Schiphol and Dubai airports so well now that I know my times to the gate.

I've got access to the Flying Blue SkyTeam lounges so I usually head there at Schiphol but not knowing CDG at all I would probably go for a wander around.

Off topic, but has anyone here flown from Manchester to Manila?
    How is it?
    What's the airport like?
Is there a nice area to relax in whilst waiting for your flight without needing to go pay for the lounge?

I usually fly from London but I live in the Midlands now so it's faster for me to go to Manchester.

Why not fly from Birmingham? Emirates, KLM and Air France all operate out of Birmingham
Manchester recently voted one of the worst airports in the UK

    And Qatar and Turkish airlines

You can use the same lounges at CDG
