He was quite emphatic about overdoing the paperwork. He broke out into laughter, virtually, when he was telling me about it.

Well, we were discussing the very subject on overdoing the paperwork the other day, its obviously just not us two who see the funny side to it :)

I think overdoing the paperwork is just down to human nature, more is better.

I totally overdid the paperwork second time round. They can laugh at me all they want as long as I get the damn visa.

My first attempt possibly had less comedy value for them, but I preferred attempt 2.

Did you appeal the decision when your fist visa application was denied or did you just shell out again for another application?

He knew why. He just didnt want to have to work his way through it all. If I were he I wouldnt be to happy with it. To be fair I am sure he was probably fairly polite when he asked the applicant to weed out some superflous material. I think there is a balance to be struck in there somewhere.

I have always found them very helpful.

And do you know, I actually knew our result before the UKBA released the result.

You will do if your buddy is just down the road, you'll be telling us next you've been out for drinks and he's agreed to join British Filipino to replace Macawber

    Not quite. LOL

But....you have hit the nail on the head as the population here is so small that everybody knows everybody else.

Did it again. By the time I knew we could appeal the time had run out. And crappy old Capital Visas said at the time it was best to reapply, obviously hoping to get a second fee.

The first decision was correct anyway. I realised that when doing it again. It was a rubbish application.

Just not enough of anything basically.

For example, I'm self employed. The financial details Capital Visas told me to submit was anything addressed to me from the inland revenue to show that I pay tax. That was it. One letter.

Proof of relationship was just photos together. That was it.

I was on notice to end my tenancy in my flat and the agreement had about one month left. They told me it would be fine when I queried it. It wasn't.

What realy annoyed me was I actually thought all these things might be a problem but they assured me it was ok.

Then, when it was unsuccesful, they suggested having a wedding in Philippines but get someone else to be there in my place and stand in for me as the groom as it was difficult for me to do that.

    I never called them again!!

Well all that's behind you now, you're where you are now that's all that counts, we all have crappy experiences with people we have put our trust in. probably like yourself, I found BF by mistake while searching for something else Filipino related, at least here you can call on a lot of peoples different experiences.
