I have had just about enough of this continuous media frenzy on a second rate american actress with her claws firmly entrenched into royal flesh.

When she first came to the UK and moved into Nottingham Cottage to be with her Prince, I thought Meghan might be a force for good and revitalise royal life. Pictures of her exchanging a joke with the Queen whilst on a royal visit and other public appearances were most heartening and the public began to (almost) idolise her.

But ... No sooner did she and Harry cut their wedding cake, she turned into some monster totally misunderstanding and mistreating her new-found royal position. I understand that she and Harry asked the Queen if they could move into Windsor Castle - it having one thousand rooms (225 more than Buckingham Palace) and a step up from their two bedroom cottage. The Queen, not unnaturally said 'no' and gifted them Frogmore Cottage, actually a row of cottages in Windsor Great Park, instead which they accepted and proceeded to spend £2.4 million of tax-payers' hard-earned to convert it into the 8 bedroom palatial home it has become. No sooner had they moved-in, Markle decided she misses Los Angeles - and acting - too much and wants us to buy her and Harry a suitable dwelling in Tinsel Town. The costs are likely to be astronomic as they will require close protection officers from Scotland Yard.

Prince Andrew aside, we rarely have cause to criticise members of the Royal Family whose members are, by and large, loved and cherished by the majority of the population. But this year, Markle has turned hypocrisy and promotion of her overbearing self-importance ('me, me, me') into an art form and has changed Harry into a not very nice person. Their embracing 'climate change' as a cause is all very well but telling us to curb our trips abroad whilst they dart hither and yon in private jets is just too much. Harry claims their private jet usage is necessary for security reasons whilst hoping that we won't notice that his older brother - and second in line for the Throne - frequently travels by commercial flight with his family; Harry is sixth in line.

I'm sure she's as vacuous as many other American actresses, if not more so, and one day Harry will be bored with her. He should have stuck with Chelsy.

I was in Windsor the day of the wedding, I saw her from a distance of 5 yards, pretty woman.

Media should leave the woman alone.

I bet 3/4 the crap she's been accused of is tabloid fantasy.

For the avoidance of doubt: I'm anti-monarchy and think the institution should be wound down when the Queen dies. I have no desire to defend the monarchy at all, but I can still smell media lies when they've been cooking.

I agree that the media should leave her alone.

I'm less convinced on winding down the Monarchy.

Blame her publicists for much of the over-exposure - she recently appointed press and publicity agents who, ISTR, represented and promoted her when she was a full-time actress. However unfortunately for her and her publicists, the British press are generally more inquisitive than their American counterparts which accounts for some of the negative stories that have been published over the last year or so.

I never read anything about her or her husband.
I find stories about royalty to be boring and a waste of time.

I would agree with you wholeheartedly if it were not for the fact that she has been courting attention since day one and the hypocrisy shown to all and sundry is of olympic proportions. If the "Firm" is not careful, she will drive a wedge in between them all, if she hasn't started already..

You are correct there, The Royals, and especially HM the Queen, and all the pomp associated with it, are the biggest tourist attraction this country has ever seen.

On a different note........... I just can't stand her (Meghan)........ I don't trust her motives

The festival of Brexit will surely see to that?

Anyway, keeping the monarchy simply because it's a tourist attraction is an insult to the dignity of the country and also an insult to the Royals themselves. Can you imagine Henry VIII, whilst fighting the Catholic church and brutally ditching his wives (in a manner de Pffefel Johnson could only dream of), being told that his ancestors will only retain their position not because they have been chosen by God, but they are popular with Japanese selfie fans?

I didn't read your comments as opposite. Unfortunately the rating system on here doesn't allow you to make half a like and half a dislike otherwise Porkadobe posting would of got them!
The reason I posted dislike is you say the Royal Family are actors see Cambridge Dictionary definition of actors
"someone who pretends to be someone else while performing in a film, play, or television or radio programme:"
Given the devotion to duty by many of them over many years I do not think you can call them actors or carrying out a pretence!

I agree. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be there but yes they are merely actors of a show. Overpaid actors at that.

    What do they actually do?
They are an anachronism, they have no power and they cost the taxpayer millions.
    Time for a republic.

As I said, they bring into the coffers much, much more than what they actually take out.

besides a bit of tradition and pomp doesn't kill anyone, and makes most of the public happy.
