After 45 years in North Wales, I am still to meet an american or japanes tourist in Rhyl, Prestatin, Tywyn, barmouth, Harlech or even wrexham..........
Tourists are going to Prestatyn because of the Queen? My local hospital used to be the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. JPR Williams treated my broken arm and was overruled by another doctor when he wanted to remove my cast. That place must have had loads of tourists.
This thread is specifically about Meghan Markle but you have hijacked it. How do you justify 20 million people or is that a wish-figure? "toohoots"? Your wish would have eventually been granted had Remain won as the EU is moving towards becoming a Federal Republic and national constitutions will be replaced by a centralised one - so no national Parliaments, Presidents or Monarchs.
Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Belize, Barbados, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, The Bahamas and Tuvalu are all the country's that the queen is head of state you would also have to factor in their views too.
i think the queen is well liked and popular with most UK citizens and visitors alike. its the rest of the hangers on that cause most disagreement.
Britain's constitutional affairs are nothing to do with the likes of Papua New Guinea. If Britain wants to get rid of the monarchy (which I fully accept is a minority view), that's our concern. If Papua New Guinea wanted to keep the Queen as Head of State, they are more than welcome to (a) offer the Queen and her family a place to live in their country, or (b) pay for her upkeep if they are happy for the Queen to stay in the UK, though she should lose her diplomatic immunity.
What diplomatic immunity would that be? No member of the Royal Family can claim diplomatic immunity apart from Prince Andrew but only whilst he was employed by Government as a Trade Ambassador some years ago.
isn't it Sovereign immunity that the reigning monarch has and this applies to the Senior Royal's when on Royal duties
No, Sovereign Immunity simply means that the Monarch can not be brought before any court and no arrests can be made at a Royal Palace.
Because in this very hypothetical scenario, the Queen would become an agent of a foreign state. Currently, the Queen cannot be prosecuted under English law. However, I'm sure that if the monarch inexplicably turned into a mass murderer, the law would be amended to bring that person to justice.
I think every town is like that nowadays as a result of online shopping and high business rates on shop premises.
