Hi. I cannot bring my son yet because he used to live with my parents as I am a single mother and it will be hard for my son and my parents to separate.

This forum is your best guide. Trust me, just a few use of the search button and few posting with regards to your concern and your questions will be answered. No one is professional here but we've all gone through the same process.

Remember if you do hire professionals they will advice you with your situation but at the end of the day it's still you who will collect and prepare all the documents.

Thank you. I agreed on that. Where can I take the English test and can review before I take. Is it hard for fiance visa?

You can check the file I attached for the English test approved centres. You take the same test for fiance and spouse visa which is the IELTS LIfe Skills A1. It will test your speaking and listening skills only. The test is expensive but I can assure you it is very easy. ;)

And how do you think it will be for him to be seperated from his mother?

That's exactly the thought that sprung to my mind on reading the post, children should be brought up by their parents not the grandparents.

its my understanding its far from unusual for filipino parents--one or both--to leave their kids with other relatives while they work overseas to support the family.

A totally different situation from actually moving permanently to another country.

I have heard of other cases of Filipino parents leaving their children behind with grand parents and moving away and it's not something I agree with personally.

A lot depends on the age in my view, kids at school need very little looking after whereas toddlers are a real handful for grandparents.

I can only imagine what the parents must be going through with their kid away from them. I admire people who has the strength. Sometimes, you have no choice but do it.
Im only drawing my feeling based on my situation which involves leaving a cat in ph. A child is on a different level from a pet.

My wife "K" and her son "small k" also known as "the stepsprog" have a VERY strong elastic tying them together. She was a single parent but she refused to contemplate leaving her son with her parents. They have been apart from each other for about a week in all in the eight years of his little life. So they attended the TB clinic together, he went with her to her IELTS test, their visa applications were submitted together, they both went to the CFO together and they travelled together.

another reason my wife didnt apply for her son's visa at the same time--was confusion and error on my part. i thought she would have to sponsor him ! therefore would need to be here working and waiting for 6 months payslips to accrue.

ive only since found out she can't be the sponsor--because she isnt a settled person. i also couldnt see how i could be his sponsor--as we are not related and have never met.

i havent yet read through the online application form for a child dependent visa application--but can only imagine if its the same generic one-size-fits-all form as her application --then theres plenty of scope for confusion and mistakes.

K came here as a fiancee on a marriage settlement visa, so it had six months validity when issued but it took her a month to actually gather her traps and leave, so five months remaining when she got here. Small k's visa to accompany parent was exactly the same, so he had five months on that, and he had to submit his biometrics and apply for FLR(M) at the same time that K did.

The financial consequences are shattering. But I take my hat off to John as in Choi for importing Choi and both her teenage daughters!
