swat up on the earnings rules--it does vary---are you a class 1 employee--or self employed ?

you must spend a fortune on fuel

do you live in your own place ?

I work for a property consultancy and I cover all over the North of England travelling around to properties going for auction that are viewed by potential buyers. I get my fuel covered for me so it's good. I only work when there's work so I don't have a 40-hour week job like the standard is. Some weeks I can work 10-15 hours. Other weeks it could be 40-60 hours. I do well each month but not well enough to reach the £18,600 threshold just yet. I live with a few other guys in a 4 bed house so the rent and bills are pretty good. Costs me around £275 a month for everything here in Manchester but I'm a Geordie! :)

    hello,

i have a quick question regarding co-sponsors that was posted on the 1st page. my partner is only working as a part-timer and it's unofficial but his family are willing to co-sponsor. will it be stricter if we have co-sponsors?

Co-sponsorship is no longer possible. This thread should no longer be a sticky as all the wonderful information provided by Micawber is now out-of-date. Your fiancée/spouse will have to meet the current financial requirements by himself.

Hello Daisy. The updated Financial Requirements ( November 2014) can be found in this link:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...exFM_Section_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement.pdf

Take note of page 8 Section 3.3.2

3.3. Evidence requirements – general information
3.3.1. These general evidence requirements are based on paragraph 1 of Appendix FM-SE.

3.3.2. Promises of support from a third party cannot be counted towards the financial requirement. The applicant and their partner must have the required resources under their own control, not somebody else’s. Promises of support from a third party are vulnerable to a change in that person’s circumstances or in the applicant’s or partner’s relationship with them. (Under section 7.1 a gift from a third party can be the source of cash savings held by the applicant, their partner or the couple jointly, provided that the money has been held by them for at least the 6 months prior to the date of application and is under their control).

I have a bizarre and probably easy question for you all to answer... For a fiancee visa the following selections on the online form are correct?

    • Settlement
      • Settlement
        • Marriage
Or should I be selecting something different?

    Hi,

I hope someone could help me on this as it is really confusing...
I have just submitted an online application for Fiance Visa for myself. I am taking my daughter (from my previous marriage) with me and I'm currently submitting her online form. However, I am not sure which option to choose for the type of visa. Is this correct...?

    • Reason for Visit: Settlement
    • Visa Type: Settlement
    • Visa Sub Type: "Child or Other Dependant of Settled Person"

The other options under Visa Sub Type are:
    Unmarried Partner
    Wife
Child or Other Dependant of Settled Person
    Civil Partnership
    Family Reunion- other dependant relative
Family Reunion- under Part 11 Asylum, Immigration Rules
    Former UK Armed Forces
    Husband
    Marriage
Parent, Grandparent and Other Dependant Relative
    Post Flight- Non-Settled Person
    Proposed Civil Partnership

To add to PTPC's question, is it correct I should be paying the health surcharge her daughter or is this only applicable at the point of applying for LTR..... phew so confusing.

good question. as the parent is applying for a fiance visa--6 months--the IHS isnt payabe. so what happens with the dependant child application needs clarifying.

Shouldn't have to pay as the visa is only valid for 6 months, when you are filling out the online form and selecting the type of visa and so on it should prompt you to pay the surcharge if required.

It does say on the NHS surcharge site that only settlement visas of 6 months + require the payment.

@Methersgate recently obtained his visa and K is bringing her child with her, I'm sure he will confirm as his is a like for like case.

    Thank you, Timmers.

We are so confused and worried that we applied for the wrong visa for my daughter... a single mistake could cost loads of money and that's what we are trying to avoid.

Its good we are starting to see different scenarios on the forum regarding the NHS surcharge, it gives us all a better understanding of how to proceed when our next visa applications come along.

    Hello all,

I have just spent the last few hours reading up on all the questions. I have just a few i think i need answering.

    Background:

I have been with my girlfriend for 3 years now, we have worked together on cruise ships all this time and are now wanting to come and live in the UK. I see the main route to do this is the settlement fiancee visa, which then follows on to an ILR visa for the right for her to stay in the UK. My main concern is the financial requirements as none of us have been working in the UK for 5+ years. Between us we have around £40k in savings but i believe that this needs to be £62.5k to be eligible without having a job. I have recently returned to the UK and am seeking out the best way for us to be together here! I am in the process of finding a job and getting some income proven in the UK.

    Questions:

Is there anyway of getting this visa without having to submit the 6 months proof of earnings if i already have some savings?
The cost of the visas, settlement fiancee ($1501) ILR (£649) once in the UK, will she then need a medical surcharge as its a 2 year visa? Is there any other costs?

If i have to do 6 months work is it from the settlement application date or from the application for ILR? My thinking behind this is that she can come over, 4months into me working and i can get the final 2 months whilst she is here.

Hope this isn't confusing any advise or tips would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in Advance

    Adam!
