I ask this coz Jonalyn has been acting very strange the last week or so and not know if last minute nerves.

She stopped coming online and when I call just say she not want to come on and has told me to cancel my flight.

When I did ask her why, she say coz I told one her friends that I'm coming.

Now this friend already knew I was coming and early this year I went to meet her bf to give him somethings to give Jonalyn before he went to manila and told him I would do the same for him when I go.

I did Jonalyn to come online and talk to about it but I could not get much out of her and the only thing we agreed on is the I give her time to think.

I can't cancel my flight with out losing money and I not want to cancel them anyway but the only reason for me to go Philippines was to meet Jonalyn.

I am going hoping that she will turn up else I got a lonely 3 weeks:(

Sorry a bit of a long and rambling post but need to all this off my chest

Well, not really sure about that and her reason is bit odd...

Give her a lil bit of time to think and if she still act strange, try to talk and ask her the truth why suddenly she changed her mind meeting you.

Goodluck and I really do hope you sort that out...

yeah, thats a bit odd :erm: I was over the moon when Tommy booked his flight and I just cant wait to see him. The thought of me cancelling his flight is just a daft thing for me to do and there is no need for 'time to think' about it. :erm:... i hope everything will be okay with you and jonalyn.

Honestly, I dont feel quite good about this... I hope I am wrong...

    Don't worry, go.
To me at the moment sounds like as if she is doing some kind of "Tampo", to let you realise that she is displeased about something, probably teling her friend about going... Without clearing it with her. This kind of announcements are a matter of a certain amount of pride, and the surprise or upper hand was definitively lost....
So a lot of groveling is in oder... aided and abetted by http://www.islandrose.net/ ....

    Don't worry about this either.
If it goes pearshaped, cut your bridges immediately, sulk for a day if you wish, and then take yourself to the touristy places, beaches and whatnot.

And if you are going to Cebu... Happy days... I do have a spare sister in law there....:like:

Just go and enjoy the trip, the worst that can happen is that you will have had a different holiday.

the last couple months have been bad. her father died in October and then the typhoon hit and they lost a lot of things

I sure this all that has not helped but I thought with me coming would have been least a small start to better times.

we've not spoken in 4 days now and it is not nice but I doing what she asked and giving her time to think

Was she going to meet you else where?

It may be your arrival was a held secret and secrets in the fils are burdens to be shared

If it goes pear shaped just nipmover to cebu and you can meet Doms spare sister-in-law lol or 100,000 other loverlies

Patch, you will have a great time...

I remember Rizza kept asking for me to send her a copy of my ticket as she was kind of sceptical about me saying I would be flying over in a couple of months, a mixture of nervousness and not fully believing I was serious were in her mind.

But the moment you first meet.... Makes up for the long flight(s):like:

Well it seems are back on track:)

Plans have change a little, Jonalyn is not meeting
Me at the airport now so have make my own way
to the condo in new Manila and pick her at the bus
    depot in the morning.

As it's my first time in Philippines I was thinking
of getting one of the airport accredited taxi, I know
their more expensive but feel that as I'll be on my own
maybe it the best way to go

Those taxis will cost about the same as a taxi in the UK... Seriously. If you can, pre book a car to pick you up. Maybe one of our Manila resident members could recomend one.

out and things are back to normal.

Very tense time just before meeting amazing time and a worrying time as you found. Best to arrange a car if you can before you get there. As you will be shattered from the flight, heat, humidty and nervous anticpation.

Have you asked the condo owners? A bit of haggling and you may find they can either supply a car or have a contact.

I get in to manila boxing day

I not thought of asking condo owner, I had ask if the reception desk would sort out a taxi for me to go and pick Jonalyn up from
the bus depot early next morning

Hotel taxi's are usually western prices but first time there it's probably safest.

The airport ticketed taxi's across the road from the main exit used to be good and fairly safe but since Manny Pacquiao's yellow cabs started picking up outside the door of the airport the other guys have turned a bit nasty. The old cabs were pretty reasonably priced you could get to Makati from the airport for example for about 450 peso.

A word of warning it's Christmas and all the taxi drivers will be wanting their Christmas from you in other words a BIG tip. If you don't have local currency they will be looking for a pretty looking sterling note or dollars. It's not good to get off to a bad start so be nice to them but don't be stupid.

What condo are you staying at?

i think it's safest if you get the airport accredited taxis.. that's won't cost you that much if you're going to San Juan...

OSS, airport to makati is 450???!!!! wow!!! what kind of taxi is that? my taxi fare is only 300 pesos and that's from Novaliches to airport...

That was a bad guess taxi Florge :) last time I took that one it was the other guy's with me that paid :D and that was a long long time ago.

I was basing it on it being roughly the same distance that I have to travel to get home to Las Pinas and that is 450 peso using the airport white taxi's, it also used to be the same going from the Airport to P. Ocompo Street on the edge of Malate, we used to rent a condo there.

I know the ticketed taxi's at the airport are inflated but for me when I get home to Manila it's just safer for me, even if the family come to pick me up we end up paying an inflated price as I end up paying for a taxi both ways, which should be just 125 peso each way but ends up being about double that once they realise it's a foreigner being collected.

The good thing is that you know your price in advance if you use the ticketed taxi's, all you will end up arguing about is the tip, if you use the regular taxi's outside the airport you are more exposed as a foreigner and you are more of a target while carrying lots of luggage.

Now when I am coming back to the UK then yes we get a regular taxi to the airport costing about 120 peso, it's NAIA to home that I don't mind paying extra for.
