One thing I've learnt here in the Philippines is never put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

There are always just too many things that can go awry to raise the risks beyond acceptable.

Of course if there's really no choice then there's no really choice.

We married last year in the Philippines and my wife used her passport with her previous married name on it still in date (she was a widow) for the application process for the cfo and to travel to the uk she kept her marriage certificate and late husbands death certificate with her at all times with the passport and all went well. Now settled in the UK
We will update her passport near its expiry date.

Good luck with the wedding and the application

the cfo is got after you get your visa and from the visa valid date once you have attended the seminar,

marry (we waited 10 days after the wedding for our certificate and nso)
apply for visa (make sure you have all required documents, photos of you and your husband together and with family, passed your english test)
once visa has been obtained do the TB screening and cfo
    travel.
My wife did the english test while waiting for the wedding it has to be booked at an approved centre

Oops. Had forgotten about the CFO. I didn't think it was essential for an EEA Family Permit. It is! Thanks to KeithAngel for putting me on to this.

I'm telling my wife to say when they ask her "Have you seen what he is like when he is grumpy?":

"Yeah. He starts shaking and he turns green. Shamrocks burst out of his ears, and he starts saying Akong ilong kai cathol* ...can I have the special sticker I need to get on the metal bird already?"

Ok, quick question, can anyone help?

Should the little sticker be issued for Ireland, my nationality, or the UK, where we will be flying to and living?

My wife tells me that she had to undertake the CFO seminar before applying for a passport in her married name. I think it better to travel to the UK on a passport in your married name as that ensures your Biometric Residence Permit will also be in your married name.

No nuns in manila thank the lord lol

I wouldnt worry about the name thing Howard especialy if it didnt fit with time dependent plans the Biometrics can be sorted at a later date after the renewal just need to keep both passports

    and UK Andy

OK, for anyone who married abroad, like Hong Kong, then wife returned to Ph:

Was the Report of Marriage document looked at by anyone? It is a requirement for the CFO and you are given it when you register your marriage at the Ph embassy. However, what you need and what they look at maybe are two different things... Sometimes...

when you attend the CFO if your visa is valid by date ie visa commences 25th January 2016 and you are attending on tuesday the 26th they will stamp it at the CFO I assume they will register your daughter by proxy as she is under 12 at the same time
