We only rent, but home contents insurance would be a good idea, however we are in an area that is known to flood.

We are not directly on the fault line, we are a few miles away from it though (hopefully fingers crossed).

It would be interesting to see the exclusions on policies :)

I know you understand the risks and why. But is moving just a short distance away not an option? Eventually, that is.

Eventually I would probably prefer not to be anywhere near Metro Manila, but that 'eventually' is probably a long way off as the kids will need a good education for at least another 11 years in Janna's case and 8 years for James.

But yes if I could I would be trying to find a place like Boots' place, 'with a nice sea view near a beach'. :)

No. I meant just a little further away. Along a commutable route....

We are about 5 miles west of the main fault line as it runs past Laguna De Bay, to get much further away we would have to move to the likes of the western parts of Cavite or down into Bacoor and until they complete the LRT extensions that's not that easy a commute, even with the coastal road extension down into Cavite, Bacoor is a nightmare to get in and out of, it can take an hour to travel as little as 1 mile.

When I was looking at Daang Hari, they were talking about a bus going in each day along that new route into Manila...maybe not as good as it sounds. Possibly just talk on the part of the property developer.

Most of the Daang Hari road appears to be much closer to the fault than where we are now, if you tried to commute from the western end that goes straight up the nightmare Emilio Aguinaldo highway when you hit the stretch coming up to SM Bacoor you might as well give up and die as the next mile is going to take you the rest of your life.

And if you are lucky enough to get through the next 600 yards through Zapote or up onto the Coastal Expressway in less than 20 minutes then you are still faced with the tailback at Coastal Mall and the tailback from Baclaran that results in everyone going left now at Coastal Mall and trying to skip Roxas Blvd all the way past MOA if they want to rejoin Roxas or turning right at MOA and heading through Pasay if you want to get up to Makati via yet another nightmare of a road. :)

    O
We have our place just up the road in Imus... Yeah traffic can be very bad but at times surprisingly fluid right through to Baclaran except on a Wednesday!..
How are they getting on with the LRT extention?? Hopefully one day they will have it go right down to Dasma.. How wonderful would that be!

I've seen no activity so far on the LRT on the route it is supposed to take through Las Pinas, there is supposed to be a station getting built near the corner of Tramo and the C5 extension seen nothing there so far and we pass that way quite often.

And they still have not completed the southbound on ramp loop at Bernabe that is supposed to join the C5 extension to the southbound Cavite Costal expressway.

Actually it looks like they have moved the Las Pinas station to the point where Quirino intersects the C5 extension just up from the Naga road, that's going to be a laugh :)

Looks like the line will run right past granny's window not that she has a great view from her house anyway :( and that is going to cut right through the salt marsh ground in Bernabe.

Still it would be great to be able to jump on the LRT to get up to Quirino station on Taft, what a difference it would make for getting around.

But yes going all the way down to Dasmarinas would make a big difference for commuters.

Heh Knight. Where have you been? We still want you here in Pommey Land. And on the forum. :D Have you given up on us here in the UK?

I'll still go there in the future, maybe for a holiday, work or two. I haven't given up on the lovely red-head lassies.

But HMPO is making it very difficult for me. They're treating me like I'm a criminal or a terrorist. Hahahahahhaa...

Another re-checking of my documents. But they told me they have upgraded my passport application to priority processing...blah...blah... Whatever that means. But it will be one year and four months next week so I'm not going to take them up for their word any longer.

Managed to get a job in New Zealand. Will be going there via OFW track. Fixing documents now.

If the UK passport arrives, then I'll just have it sent to NZ and have the working visa transferred to it.

I still love the UK and its culture though, even if it doesn't like me back.

If you want cheap housing but still safe and close to the Metropolitan areas, then properties along Daang Hari is good. But you really have to do your home work because a lot of properties there are along the Western Fault line or close enough. So make sure to have a geological study before you purchase a property.

But I agree with what oss has said, travelling can be really difficult. Unless you will be driving and wealthy enough to travel via Skyway every day. The tolls are from a hundred plus per passage depending on your vehicle and destination.

Makati to Alabang, cost P164 (2.31 GBP) per passage.

That route from Zapote, Coastal, Roxas Blvd. can snuff the life out of you during rush hours.

But for easier travel to Manila via public transport, try looking for buses or FXs. There are lots of buses or FXs heading to Manila, you just have to know where to look for them.

It's okay. I don't like her too. Hahahahahah...
