    Yes, BBJ. Nice one.
I remember this one from some years ago.

It was very popular in the Irish Pub I used to go to in Yokohama. Played almost every time I went.
Yep. An Irish Pub in Japan. Actually they seem to turn up in some unlikely places.

    Here's a good song.
Maybe the most popular Irish Song ever written by someone not Irish. :)

I used to do a mean Karaoke of this a few years ago.

I've not been to Dublin for a couple of years now, but used to take a weekend there maybe 3 times a years. Always roamed around Temple area looking for the best music. Wonderful

A very different, but beguiling version of "Dancing in the Moonlight"

    The Undertones
Simply the best way to spend 2:30 minutes of your time this Friday night
(altho' "Teenage Kicks" runs it a close second)

C'mon BBJ, you'll be telling me next you used to watch the OGWT. You can't be old enough surely.
If I'm honest I prefer Teenage Kicks. But that just an opinion.

Isn't there a new upcoming movie Teenage Kicks: The Story of The Undertones or something along those lines. Kind of 'rockumentry' ?

John, we also like The Cranberries very much.

They're also quite popular in the Philippines. Lots of good singers belt out a good rendition of Zombie. I do like it, but I prefer your choice of 'Linger'

I guess we must also include this one.
Even though it's not Irish Music the performer most definitely is

I don't know how true it is, but allegedly the tear is genuine as she associated the song with the death of her mother.
I think it was origibally written by Prince. Don't know when though.

Anyway, like millions of others worldwide I did enjoy the song

I had an odd encounter with Shane MacGowan one time in London pub.
It might have been called Dirty Dicks as I often went there when I was in London getting ready for a flight.

He was definitely drunk and he was scary. But he took a shine to me and after a while I discovered, to my surprise, he seemed to be very knowledgeable and able to articulate well about music. Especially Irish music. He was interesting and charming in a kind of dangerous way. Especially as he had a couple of hard looking mates taking care of him.
I had the devils own job getting out the pub. He wanted to keep buying drinks.
Strange as it sounds he also knew his stuff on Japanese food and said he knew a great place that stayed open all night, and how we'd all go later.

Well, to cut a long night short I bottled it.
Excused myself, went to the gents then crept out of the pub and back to the Cumberland Hotel to ready myself for my afternoon flight next day.

Oh what joy. Terrible time getting up and ready

Dirty Dicks ? ... as in Bishopsgate, opposite Liverpool Street station ?
    That brings back memories.

My "celebrity claim to fame story".....
When Twickenham was being redeveloped, the rugby was played at Wembley, and on one occasion I went to see England play Canada. ...... so, many many drinks later & the game is over, we get the tube back into London.
We then decide that the tube is too full and claustrophobic, so take an executive decision to get off in Kilburn, and have 1-2 drinks in a pub until the crowds die down.
So, into Molly Maguire's we go .... and a few drinks later it's my round, and off I go to the bar.
I end up talking to some guy at the bar for 45+ minutes, swapping life stories/experiences. I can vaguely remember him mentioning he worked for the BBC. I can also remember many people walking in, and either shaking the guy's hand or saying "hello".
He must be a regular I thought.

... so, I eventually get back to my mates, and someone says "How did you know him, did you get his autograph ?"
"Eh ? ..... who is he"
    "Father Ted ...... Dermot Morgan"
    ""Eh ? ..... who's Father Ted ?"
    "From the TV programme"
"Sorry, no idea what you're talking about"

.... and by the time we'd concluded our "quick" drink to let the tube crowds die down, the tubes had stopped running !
