I booked the A1 has others told me thats all i needed and it also tells you on the site. When you look on the site they give you all the dates for 2016.
I have also been told that, just wondered once I marry her and bring her to the UK, will she at some time need to take B1 ?
Maharg has said that B1 will be needed later but not for a few years, correct me if i am wrong. This table is from Britishcouncil site. Test Version Purpose IELTS Academic This test is for test takers wishing to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and for those seeking professional registration in the UK. IELTS General Training This test is for test takers wishing to migrate to the UK and for those wishing to train or study below degree level. IELTS Life Skills B1 This test is for those who need to prove their English speaking and listening skills as part of their application to UK Visas and Immigration for indefinite leave to remain or citizenship. IELTS Life Skills A1 This test is for those who need to prove their English speaking and listening skills as part of their application to UK Visas and Immigration for ‘family of a settled person’ visas.
She will need the B1 when she applies for Indefinite Leave to Remain, but not before then. She will also need to pass the Life In The UK test at that point. A1 is the level for Fiance Visa, Spouse Visa and FLR. It is pretty easy level. It will be 5 years before level B1 is needed. That, too, will be a doddle by then.
T Thank you once again, this site is proving invaluable, Have arranged to register for the one on 13/02/16, according to the table it has to be done between 9am and 12pm. also will she need to provide her place of work, as she is a domestic who lives in, but has a boarding house for somewhere to relax. Her boss is very strict to the point where her bag is searched when she goes out. she has worked there for nearly 2 years and you would have thought she would be trusted by now.
A1 English test booked for 13/02, and have given her the list of approved clinics for her to take her TB test in Hong Kong. Told her not to book it yet as only lasts 6 months, to leave it until just before she leaves Hong Kong for the Philippines.
Have printed off my bank statements, and will produce proof of income in due time, when will I need to produce these ?
Don't use print outs. Order back statements from the bank and switch to paper statements. You need 6 months worth of statements in with the application. The most recent must not be older than 28 days old.
Thank you for your swift reply, I have contacted both my banks to ask for statements to be paper and back dated for 6 months, and am awaiting their replies. One of the accounts I have asked statements for, although I should not need to use it, is an ISA that I have had with this bank for probably 3 years now. This account is one that I can withdraw from with no notice of withdrawal, but they only issue a statement annually. One of my other accounts includes a recent deposit from a National Savings 1 year over 65 plan that I chose to close, rather than carry on so that I could use it as the amount of savings I have. Will try and get a statement from NS&I to verify this.
Cash savings can be used to support any shortfall in income, but only that amount above £16k will be counted.
What do I need as proof of income, a P60 ?. I have got one for the last tax year, but as I plan on going there at the end of April cannot guarantee having this years, without chasing them up
I never submitted a p60....just letters proving my state pension...and bank statements to prove savings.
I have a private pension, I can submit these details, along letters proving state pension. Are all these proof of income and savings done on the day at the British Consulate in Manila . ?
hamstead, exactly what category do you intend to apply under regarding financials ? What documentary supporting evidence you have ? Have you reviewed the UKVI Financial Requirement rules ? Sorry of I confuse you as I haven't fully followed your background story
Have read the UKVI Financial Requirement rules a while back, I believe the figure quoted was £18.6k, anything under that I need 2.5 times the difference, added to the £18.6k. Therefore if my annual pensions add up to £14.6k, then I need £4k x 2.5 = £10k + £18.6k amount of savings to satisfy UKVI Financial Requirement rules, which amounts to £28.6k. I am aware of this and was asking if the place to offer proof of my evidence of having sufficient funds is the British Consulate in Manila.
wrong!! its 2.5 times the income shortfall--added to a base of £16,000 threshold ! less than you thought !!
you send originals (+ a copy) of all your documents--plus appendix filled out--over to your partner---who then hands them in to VFS---all this after you have done the online application and paid the fee.. nothing is done on the day at the consulate. you need to get thoroughly familiar with this: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/270484/VAF4A-Appendix2.pdf
