hi i dunno where to start. were planning to apply spouse visa next year. and some of the requirements we can provide. My partner earn £18,600 but his bank account/savings doesn't have much savings. its only enough for our visa fee, and other major expenses for applying spouse visa. any advice, tips please. Thank you.

Savings aren't important so long as he earns a mimum of the financial requirement which is £18,600 for a single application with no dependent children. There are certain caveats to that - if you're self employed, a director of a company, or you gain some of that income due to bonus or overtime.

I wrote something else. But it wasn't right. So I deleted it.

Welcome to British Filipino iainchelle, at least your loved one earns over the £18,600 financial requirement for the settlement visa which is a very good start. Savings are not required for the visa so that is one thing off your mind.

Its good to hear that you are aware of the expenses involved with settling in the UK, with that in mind you can make some sensible decisions, many people are not aware of the full expense, there is more than the initial visa fee to take into consideration, much more.

Please tell us what specific expenses you are concerned about and we may be able to help using our own experiences :)

Budget about a thousand pounds for coats, clothes, gloves, sweaters, socks, boots and (after this last weekend in my case) a trip to the oriental supermarket to buy a million tins of shrimp paste, chilli paste, noodles, kangkong and rice cakes. :)

As others have said, UKVI are only interested in taxable income being at or above the relevant threshold.
Savings and cost of living liabilities are of no interest to UKVI nor do they have any impact on your visa application .

    Good luck

I believe that you need to show that you have a genuine relationship and that you intend to marry. As such I would imagine that you need to show that you have met at least once, that you are engaged, rhat the foreign half has met your parents, that you have wedding plans etc. II don't think they is a prescriptive number for the number of times you have met, but clearly meeting more times over a long time is better than meeting once.

Photos of you together, scans of air tickets, scans/prints of correspondence (chat logs/skype ,etc.).

If it's a spouse visa application...you will of course already be married (in the Phils).

As has been mentioned the only specific requirement of the Immigration Rules is that you have actually met in person.

My husband and I met just twice, but we made sure to include proof of correspondence throughout the 3 years we've known each other. Some email or skype conversations are too private so I put all our email messages in one folder then took screen shots of each page, making sure to include the time and date stamps on them including my computer desktop's time. That way, I have proof of over 500 email messages (including communication with his friends and parents) printed in just 10 sheets of paper. Good luck!

He's my bf for 1 year and after that he proposed to me. And he will arrive again on 23rd this month. After that he will go back here on christmas for another holiday. Then on february 2016 were going to get married. And we will apply uk spouse visa on april 2016. I hope it all goes well. I have exchange cards, chat logs, fb messenger, viber and skype. And pictures. Hotel receipt. Scan air tickets and the rest of the requirements that he needs to show. Goodluck to me.

ah yeah sorry I misread. I missed the spouse part. My wife and I married in the phils before we applied for a spouse visa. Once you're married, clearly that proves you have a legal relationship. However, you still have to prove that its not a sham marriage and hence your application will be strengthened by more supporting documentation about trips, remittances, skype call logs, emails, flight tickets, passport entry stamps, engagement ring receipts, wedding photos and so forth.

I included in another thread of mine my contents list that I used for my (approved) category F application with two children. Many other applications will be simpler and of course individual circumstances vary so its wise to check the immigration rules carefully.

@Howerd hmm i don't think we can make it ok december for marriage license on december :( he will only stay here for 10 days. From dec25 to january 3. And that's holiday here in philippines. We have 1 month preparation on february. And i have contact person in legal assistant wedding. And she told me 1 month is enough. Hope so. Thank you for your tips. And btw can you give me advice about uk visa assistance here in the philippines. Were planning to apply next year my uk spouse visa thru SureVisa Manila. Is it worth it? Thank you.

Frankly I would consider just applying yourself using the information you can get here. I don't believe that for a simple application throwing money away with an agency is worth it.
