My wife submitted her application with VFS and subscribed to the SMS service, but up to now VFS haven't sent anything or responded to e-mails.
So i used the UK Visa and Immigration site to get confirmation that VFS had deposited the application.

    http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?threads/free-visa-queries-from-outside-uk-including-application-progress.9896/

    The response:-

I have tracked the status of your application and found that it is waiting
to be assessed by an Entry Clearance Officer. We will contact you once a
decision has been made or, if necessary, during the consideration of your
    application.

We have service level standards for processing UK visa applications. We
will process 90% of non-settlement applications within 3 weeks, 98% within
    6 weeks and 100% within 12 weeks of the application (biometric taken) date;
and 95% of settlement applications within 12 weeks of the biometric taken
date and 100% within 24 weeks of the application (biometric taken) date.
Please note that we define 1 week as 5 working days.

    I really do hope so,.
UK visa and Immigration site is not helpful right now, and can't help feel anxious about it.

Thank you very much for all your kind words :) it really helped me a lot.

I lodged my application on 10th November. I didnt hear anything from them at all, no emails no phone calls.
I received the email from UKBA manila "your decision will be despatched shortly" on 18 December exactly 29 working days and on 19th December, I receive an email from VFS saying that they received my processed visa application. Today, 20 December, I got the documents back. I was looking for that piece of paper where it says "I therefore refuse your application" but I couldn't find any, I didnt want to look at my passport yet as didnt want to get disappointed. After going through all the paperworks, I opened my passport and there you go, that little yellow shiny thing is on there :) I am over the moon right now. I have not seen my baby for exactly 4 months now and it has been the most difficult and saddest 4 months ever but the wait is over :)

That's great news dane, for me this is the first Christmas for eight years that I wont be in the Philippines for Christmas.

Your partner is just going to love the Philippines, especially at Christmas time, enjoy your time together :)

    Wow! Congratulations Lisa!!!
Thank you, hope it is really on its way. Somehow felt a bit relieved, was worried about that email,.
    That's a great idea!!! I'd love to.
Target date is january 16 onwards, my partner is flying back on that date (16th january). Would love to fly back with her but when we were booking her ticket with Air China, the remaining seats are just limited, so not feasible to do that. Told her we could just wait each other at Heathrow airport if arriving on the same day.
If I'll be lucky and get my visa in time, probably NAIA though considering Clark Pampanga, quite close to where am staying right now. But still, all of this are hanging in the air,.
Btw, have you been to CFO seminar?
I told my partner that I'll take the seminar when she's here, I know she won't be able to get inside but still would like to have her around. Perhaps we could go together if you haven't done it yet.
    congratulations again!!!
