It's quite a quiet island used to be quite active with lots of nightlife for the grownups, Des O'Conner and the likes would play the local hall near the pier had some big names back in the 60s. We used to stay in this guest house the one with the spire in this street view 23 A844 - Google Maps Lena Zavaroni used to visit as one of her relatives worked in the guest house and she would sometimes sing in the lounge in that first floor bit with the oriel window, from memory I think her family owned a Chippy just down the road.
I have a Philips trimmer but I'm damned if I am doing a Picard And this the best pic you are going to get of me on this place
Are you sure you are going to Bute? That sounds like Arran at Kildonan looking over at Pladda. Lots more to explore on Arran.
Ah I see, as far as I know the main ferry is still Rothesay to Wemyss Bay then a drive down to Ardrossan for the Brodick ferry. There is a fantastic drive from Bute if you take the Colintraive ferry to the mainland and drive north up to Loch Fyne by the most direct route then up round the top of Loch Fyne and back down through Inveraray then on into Argyle and down over to the east coast to Claonaig you can get a ferry over to Lochranza that's a nice journey.
Correct Italian FFP3 masks, kept me alive so far, 99.99% or more filtration. For some reason the phone is doing mirror image shots just now
longest journey i ever made , with wife#1 and young daughter ( shes 50 this year ) was; isle of wight to birmingham--to visit my parents after a few days birmingham to glasgow--to visit wifes granma--stayed the night. then thought--why not visit john o groats--its just up the road , looking at a road map. Granma wanted to go with us. off we set--glasgow to east side--up the A9 to the Forth bridge--spectacular stopped the night at Tain--next day--to john o groats--then back to Tain for a second night. next day back to Glasgow--via the caledonian canal and the west side. Stayed the night next day back to Brum for a few days--then back to the I o W home. How many miles was that ?
This is an old slide film shot of the Kyles of Bute. Bute on the right, Colintraive ferry is on the left.
Died following some sort of surgery? She suffered from depression. A Scottish version of bonnie Langford.
Yes my spelling is wrong, Lena Zavaroni She was a wee lassie younger than me at the time by about 4 years, she was literally a child singing her heart out.
The other shorter option is to skip Loch Fyne still go via Colintraive but get the Portvadie <-> Tarbert Ferry to Argyll.
