My stepson. For arriving in a strange country, going to a school where he looked different and nobody spoke his first two languages, making friends with everyone there and with the neighbours, for really trying hard to close the gap between the education that he had received in the Philippines and that of his classmates, for mastering the household electronics, learning how to cook, polishing his own shoes, tidying the house and helping his Mummy, for acting as unpaid interpreter for my Yorkshire brother in law's mother when on holiday in the Philippines in the summer, for being desperately concerned to keep Mummy and Daddy together and happy and for positively hero worshipping his older stepbrothers.
Great post @Methersgate - hopefully inspiration for my fiancé's teenage son who will enter 3rd year in the Scottish education system in summer 17 (subject to visa of course!) Your stepson sounds a fine young man. Gerry
