    There are a lot of progressives that really want it decriminalised, the reality in the US and the UK and elsewhere is that it is a fairly harmless (not completely) social drug and decriminalisation would remove so many excuses for violent police/citizen interactions, it would be great but it's probably not going to actually happen, if they lose the midterms in the house nothing will change, Biden's not going to be able to use executive orders alone to acheive this goal.

    Years ago Howard Marks, the infamous marijuana smuggler told me he was going to cover a small island down near Mindanao with weed, to smuggle it into Australia, obviously the plan never came off for whatever reason,there's quite a bit grown illegally on Negros but Mindanao and the cordillera are the main cultivation areas. When I lived in Hong Kong I knew an english guy who got a 30 year sentence in the Philippines for trying to smuggle a few kg of weed to japan.

    Just been watching on Netflix “Ten Dollar Death Trap” documentary in Downtown Eastside Vancouver and the use of Fentanyl as a drug.
    Really is a harrowing but worthy watch.

    Reality is far worse than a movie.

    Ah, just as well, Howard was stoned one night in my mates flat autographing a pile of books, passed out, everyone was signing them.Howard was only as well known as he was because he got caught, there's kids nowadays moving far more and making far more cash with the anonymity of the Internet.

    Didn't like the film, the book was ok'ish, his supplier used to live near me,went to prison, became a taxi driver when he got back to UK, died of a heart attack on holiday in Vietnam a few years back.
