http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33020523 Soon we will have our Phones and tablets getting charged over wifi Awesome
The idea is interesting but entails broadcasting noise continually during times when the router would normally be quiet, it means that routers have to be modified to work that way and that means they would all use more energy. So all you are doing is moving the requirement to charge an individual device via a direct connection, to a continual waste of energy in broadcasting a wifi signal, that cannot be efficient, quite apart from anything else energy density decreases with the inverse square of the distance from the source of a broadcast, your phone or other device is tiny, all that wifi radiation is going out in all directions what a waste, at least just now it only broadcasts when it has to, in order to conserve energy!
If it can charge a USB device, imagine what it can do to your brain transmitting that energy constantly at 2.4 GHz (the same frequency as a microwave oven)
