My wife's old landlord has finally decided the condo is in suitable condition and wants to give the flat security deposit back. I'm just wanting to avoid headaches, because I know the visa people don't like any amount of money going into a bank account that isn't listed on a wage slip somewhere. I'd assume it would be a headache if it were to appear in her UK account - is she okay to have the money paid back to a PH account instead? Or should it go to UK with some form of letter confirming what the amount is (and would they pay any attention to that or just cause a headache anyway?) FYI we just recently got her UK spouse visa and are nowhere near doing a reapply for the 2.5 year renewal, but want to get it squared off now so we know what we're doing. thanks in advance!
her bank accounts in the UK arnt any of the HO,s business its onl;y your income that you use for meeting the financial requirements
wouldn't they ask what the money is / where its from once we give them the various bank statements though? (should have clarified - we were considering getting a joint account, as she's only just got her NI and about to set it up with me). At renewal time, would they ask to see x amount of bank statements from both of us, or is it still just me? if its just me, I guess that's one potential advantage of having separate bank accounts but it seems a bit of a pain to do that just because of the landlords security deposit...
her income doesnt count and neither does your in and outgoings on your bank statements only the entries backed up with payslips that you rely on to demonstrate you meet the financial requirements
It shouldn't be a concern IMO. Keep the contract you have with the landlord. That should have the wordings of the security deposit and how much it is. You can supply that if you really want to show where that money is from. But to your point though, the next FLR won't be until the next 2.5 years so I don't see any reason why you should worry about this. My guess is that only 6mos worth of bank statements will be asked then.
I`m really surprised that a Filipino landlord actually gave you back a security deposit!! Well done...The Admin here will issue you a prize!
In my short time here I've had 3 landlords. Each one has returned my security deposit in full with 1 week of vacating the properties. Maybe just lucky eh
Firstly, it really doesn't matter in your specific case at all. Secondly, there's nothing at all in immigration rules about having money in any bank account at all. It's not going to cause any headache to either of you at. At renewal time in 30 months UKVI will only be interested in pay slips that meet the income threshold and corresponding bank statements evidencing the payment made. The income threshold can be solely yours or if you don't meet it then a combination of both yours and your wife by payslips and corresponding bank statements showing payments from those payslips. Any other bank deposits (or withdrawals) are irrelevant for UKVI visa purposes.
