Will be travelling to uk soon... what sort of clothes and shoes do I need to bring if I will be there from sept - feb? I love wearing shorts. S that still appropriate to wear during those months?

You'll be fine in scotland in shorts during those months:freezing:

Reall ythough it wil get cold but if your coming in Sept then you may get some of remaining summer. My wife says it gets hotter here in the UK than back home but obviously thats only for a short time. So you should be ok with shorts for a while but jeans, closed shoes, long sleeve tops would be what I would like at. You can always kit yourself out with bits and bobs when you get here. For my wife we got her a long coat and other stuff at TK Max. After that when money got a better we went proper cloths shopping, it was great fun.......................

I would suggest plenty of jeans and t-shirts, and then when you get to Scotland buy some jumpers and a good coat to keep you warm. Oh, you will also need to buy gloves and perhaps a woolley hat!

You will probably see snow whilst you're here, and I doubt you will find the clothes needed there in Manila. Plus, you get to do some high street shopping here in the UK which is something you will enjoy also.

    I bet you're excited now:D

Oh! there are LOTS of winter clothes here Kuya specially at the Ukay-Ukay (used clothes, bags, shoe stores). I actually went to see some warm jackets on the ukay-ukay store yesterday but its really hard to find my size... 'small' is still a bit big size for me :)

Mid September it will be starting to get cold Majah and they have not apparently had a great summer up there in Scotland this past few years. (I'm living in England these days)

The pattern used to be that late September we might get some sunny warm days maybe even what we call an Indian summer (very late in the year good weather), then in October it starts to get dull and grey colder and wetter, then during November in a nice year it's bitterly cold in all day but clear sky and very sunny, some of my favourite weather.

February can be very very cold in Scotland but you should be used to it by then :)

Ana was ok with these sort of clothes right at the end of October.

Ah sorry slightly misleading the second photo is Edinburgh, the first one is Ana in front of the Abbey in my old home town :)

Funny how you never notice or appreciate something like that when you live there, I had been away from the town for about 9 years at that point.

This was Edinburgh and it is amazing :)

I was talking to someone in Scotland few days ago and the weather is not great out there now. Hardly any summer at all. Knowing how unpredictable UK weather is, I suggest that you bring a few light or summer outfit but the rest will be something that will keep you warm (the basic ones ) until you can get yourself proper thermals and winter outfits over here. I have lived in Scotland before, and the cold there is different from any other parst of the UK. The cold most especially accompanied by the wind coming from Siberia really gets into the bones. You are coming from the very warm Philippines so as soon as you get to Scotland you will really feel the cold big time. Even if the temperature is what you call mild you will still feel the cold. Trust me on this.

Well yeah I agree if you get an east wind it is murderous and you are right the summers have been pretty poor since I left in 2009, lived there all my life up till that point. The west coast though is milder but wetter

Most of what we got for Ana was bought here, we arrived on a mild night in 2007, she came over in her normal attire then we just went to the shops, surprisingly things here are often not that expensive even compared to Manila but it is worth being willing to visit the charity shops here too to get good bargains, (uki-uki, or oki-oki in the Phils) remember that the charity shops will often have top end brands at bargain basement prices.

Scotland is cold, but I miss the place, we have not been without amazing summers in the past though, 1976 it was up to 98 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 weeks solid.

The best month for Scotland these days tends to be May, much the same as it was down here in England this May, at least for sunshine.

The first photo looks like Paisley Abbey, the second at West End (Castle Street)? The third just east of the two bridges? The last is clearly Princes Street.

Yep, the third though is on the west coast on the beach at Lunderston Bay, just round the corner from Inverkip, not too far from where I used to live.

The fourth picture is down here in England at Southport, you can just make out Blackpool way far in the distance :)
