Western Union for emgencies PNB or one of the other Banks I would say the best bet.

PNB can seem very "Phil" in there ways (a comment from the Wife and friends) where things can seem to not run to smoothly.

The wife used the online system today and in mintues the process was done same with ringing up although occasionally the operator can make a mountian out of a molehill. But the remittance if sending to a PNB account is there while you speak to the operator which compared to what we used to have a few years back even seems like heaven.

I would strongly suggest you check out any potential remittance company with a small test amount first and read all their rules and regs thoughly first.

As you progress Kuya with your Relationship you will possibly find you need to send large sums you want it to be with a company where you have some comeback if things go wrong. From expereince PNB have made mistakes but they have always sorted things out in the end.

I would also have a couple of remittance companies which you use from experience all set up if possible. occasionally remittance companies have a computer issue or impossible to contact for one reason or another when you need to remit asap. Also sometimes there is a reason why the reciever needs to a different company (local atm not working) or out of hours payment etc.

Better to have an account set up than rushing around to get registered when needing to do in a hurry trust me.

I thought Xoom had withdrawn from the UK?

Edit: Confirmed. xoom.co.uk website is gone, its just a holding page for adverts. Xoom.com states clearly you must have a US bank account or US credit card.

Actually you can do us all a favour....:like:

The main reason why xoom ceased in the Uk, was because they decided to use only debit cards from US banks and dropped the partnership with paypal altogether.....

But after reading the post, I had a quick look on my account and noticed that they do take Credit Card payments for remittance....

So if you feel adventuorous, please try with your Visa or Mastercard, and let us know about the result...
    Please.
i was going to send some dosh over, but not just yet, my card is still smarting after the last spanking, and don't want to give it a stroke..... Just yet...

I used xoom before and really enjoyed the service as it was so quick but dunno why they withdrawn here in UK. Xoom I can send to my HSBC Account which I really miss it in just 10 minutes. So I tried so many Remittances . I registerd in Easy Padala Remittance Land Bank online but it took 2-3 days to receive the money by your recipient then also registered PNB Remittance online but same it will took 2-3 days to receive the money and when I wanted to use it I forgot my password hopeless me ….. Again I registered the Metro Remittance online as well I think 2-3 days to receive the money and the thing I hate is every time you remit you need to phone them to give your pin Number . The others I can’t remembered. The last one is Western Union this is the very expensive one in charges but same as Xoom recipient will receive in just 10 minutes and online as well and no hassle to phone them as long you verified your Identity to them I sent my Passport and a credit card by email. I use Western Union fo rush and use Metro remittance for my Phil Account .

thanks love.... I won't be sending money to Pinas on a regular basis... just this time as I am paying for my wedding there... after that, no need for padala... just that since I might be sending big sums of money, Western Union may not be a good as their charges are so high!

do we have paypal in Pinas already?
