Hello everyone! I have read about the Visit Visa topic on the threads. However, I still have a question..

If someone can sponsor (accommodation and expenses of my vacation in the UK) for a Visit Visa application, do I still need to submit a bank statement to prove that I can support myself while in the UK? How long will it take to wait for the result of the application?

By the way, he’s not a boyfriend yet. A friend that would love to meet me here in the Philippines and take me in the UK for a vacation if we find that we have a promising relationship.

Any comments will be highly appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day

It would be better if you have own documents to submit as well. There is a section in the application where they ask for employment/income/expenditure details. Also, there are questions regarding your monthly cost of living, cost of your trip, how much you give to dependents if there are any, etc..
    Good luck :like:

In short, not having a bank account does not by itself prevent a visit visa being granted, nor does not be able to demonstrate holding sufficient personal funds by itself prevent a visit visa being granted

What the UKVI caseworker is looking for is as much evidence as possible demonstrating a non-immigrant intent. In other words you must clearly show that you do not intend to remain in the UK on a permanent basis and will return home before expiry of your visa.
Immigration law places this burden of proof on you the applicant.

You need to convince the caseworker that you have sufficiently strong social, economic and family ties at home that would compel you to leave the UK at the end of your visit.

In principle, you must submit or be able to show:-

    - information about you
    - information about your finances and employment
    - if you are employed, a letter from your employer granting leave of absence from your job for a specified period - the letter should also say how long you have been employed by that employer, in what job(s), and when you are expected back at work
    - if you are self-employed, evidence of your business activities and financial standing
    - evidence of any property you own in your home country
    - if you are a student, a letter from your school or college stating the course you are on, its start and finish dates, and the dates of the holiday period when you intend to visit the United Kingdom
    - your accommodation and travel details
    - information about your visit to the UK
    - you are 18 or over
    - you intend to visit the UK for no more than 6 months
    - you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit
    - you have enough money to support and accommodate yourself without working or help from public funds, or that you and any dependants will be supported and accommodated by relatives or friends
    - bank statements going back over a period of several months
    - evidence of savings/funds available to you during your stay
    - you are not in transit to a country outside the 'Common Travel Area' (Ireland, the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands).
    - you do not intend to take paid or unpaid employment, produce goods or provide services, including the selling of goods or services directly to members of the public
    - you do not intend to do a course of study
    - you do not intend to marry or register a civil partnership, or give notice of marriage or civil partnership
    - you do not intend to carry out the activities relating to different visit category
    - you do not intend to receive private medical treatment
    - evidence of any family or social ties and responsibilities to return home
Some typical examples of these ties can be a job, a house, social and family relationships, a bank account, possessions etc
The ECO will be looking to see if the aspects of your life that bind you to your country outweigh those aspects that may cause you to be unwilling to return to your home country, or to attempt to change or extend your visa status.

Your sponsor can help greatly by providing an invitation/supporting letter to confirm the support they will be providing in terms of financial assistance and/or accommodation.

If the sponsor is intending to totally support the visit then here is a listing of fairly typical supporting documents that should be provided:-

    - 6 months Bank statements
    - 6 months pay slips
    - Proof of address (eg utility bill, Council Tax etc)
    - Accommodation details (including owner's agreement / rental agreement)
    - Sponsors passport copy (Photo page, any relevant stamp pages)
    - The main reasons for wanting the applicant to travel at the specific time

The absolute keys are going to be:-

    - Reasons to return home that outweigh reasons to stay
    - Financials

The positive aspects of visit visa application is that of it's very low cost and with fairly quick decision making.
In the case of refusals the caseworker will clearly state the specific reasons. This can be used to help counter/overturn those reasons in any subsequent application

Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

    Good luck

Hello gie, welcome aboard British Filipino :welcome:

Are your elderly parents dependent on you to any extent ?

UKVI will be looking at all of the connections that bind you to your home country to the extent that you'll be compelled to return home before the visa expires.

What's the main purpose of the Visit Visa ?
Do you have family in the UK ?

A visit visa has always been notoriously problematic to secure for many reasons.
Not least because approval or refusal is principally based on the discretion of the ECO.

The major complication is the need for the applicant to prove a non-immigrant intent.

I feel that if your husband presents a good invitation/supporting/sponsoring letter you may get lucky.
The actual visa application cost is very small and decision making is quick.

There's absolutely nothing to be lost in making the application.
To be honest you don't appear to have the strongest case, but it seems you have good reason.
If the ECO feels you'll return to your parents it may be granted.

    Good luck

Hello and good day. Thanks for this great information.

I have last question: Do I need to show them a return flight ticket already booked and paid for, or can I present an itinerary and planned dates only with a guarantee from my husband that he will purchase the ticket for said dates when the visa is granted?

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Myra

Personally I wouldn't purchase any flight ticket that's not refundable.

UKVI will not accept that a return ticket is an indication of non-immigrant intent. You need to demonstrate, as best you can, strong ties and compelling reasons to return.
