Hi My Filipina GF’s 6 month visit visa expired today. Need to renew. She came to visit me in UK for 2 holidays this year, both 2 weeks in duration. I support all her finances and have done since 2019. Will she be able to apply for a 2 yr visit visa as this is her 2nd one? Or should I stick to 6 months? Thanks.
You can apply just comes down to probability of getting. Will need potentially a better evidence trail but keeping to what was said in the first visa request should help. Short visits and returning home. they are available--but cost more pro rata than each 6 month visa. My wife's brother has a 5 year visit visa--each visit 6 months max. He is now in the US.
It’s about £150 for 6 months and about £500 for 2yrs. It’s a lot to lose if it gets rejected. I think for a renewal the 6 months is safer. My GF only came for 4 weeks in 6 months, and left as planned. Logically no reason to refuse 2yrs, but not always clear reasoning given behind refusals, just I’m not satisfied.
I think your right and @Pedro be advised The criteria extract taken from below link 2-year UK Visitor Visa The 2-year UK Visitor Visa allows you to stay in the United Kingdom for up to 2 years. This visa is for people who want to visit the UK for leisure, to see family, or to receive private medical treatment. You can apply for a 2-year UK Visitor Visa if you are aged 18 or over and have enough money to support yourself during your stay. You will also need to show that you have a return ticket and that you intend to leave the UK at the end of your trip. If you are granted a 2-year UK Visitor Visa, you will be able to enter the country for up to 6 months at a time. I dont think girlfriend qualifies as family. https://london-immigrationlawyer.co...or-visas/#types-of-long-term-uk-visitor-visas
Reading the case workers guidance ie what the home office staff are expected to apply when making decisions I couldn't see any requirement for family only. Guidance does cover provision of support and accommodation and third parties are acceptable if have genuine relationship ie girlfriend. Has already got a visitor visa and assume that was the basis of the application. Has visited twice using that visa for short durations and left the country within the scope of the visa all of which adds to the case for approval, assuming that was detailed in the original application. That said looking at the costs I'd probably stick to six month visa - 149 USD for six month versus 519 USD for two year. If have a two/three month or more gap between visa's then cheaper to get three six month visas just more hassle and some associated costs with applying.
possibly not--but boyfriends do! My wifes brother--the one with the 5 year visa--uses it to visit his girlfriend in Aberdeen. Shes also a settled filipina.
he flies over most years for a week or 2. My wife has flown up to Aberdeen to see him ( and his girlfriend )--and they came down here for christmas a few years back. He was working in the Middle east back then. He gets around a bit.
