Hope someone can help me,I booked my flight with Singapore airlines via travel agent in the U.K. My return is 3rd November now the wife just got her spouse visa but the embassy put the 4th November in it, I called Singapore airlines to see if I could change the date so I can travel back with the wife but they are asking for an extra £314 to change my date which seems extortionate and was wondering is it worth contacting the embassy to see if they could change the validity date to the 3rd November I did say in the application what day I was travelling back to the uk I saw on a post here someone got their spouse visa 2 days after ours and they are travelling to the uk less than a week after receiving theirs any advice would be very helpful thanks.
I cannot advise on this, but a question, just in case... Singapore Airlines offer several flights from MNL to LHR departing on the 3rd November. What date will your flight arrive in the UK, is it the 3rd or the 4th?
Looking at similar cases on other forums if you can't get the visa date changed it is down to the airlines discretion wether they let a passenger board their plane before the visa starts albeit at the point of arrival when the visa is presented at immigration it will be in date. Ask the airline if they will and if so get e mail confirmation, or try talking e mailing the travel agent you used see if they can help with the pricing of a change date. Good Luck
I thought she would not get past immigration so I could not see the airline letting her board before her visa starts I have been in contact with my travel agent but still waiting for a reply I rang Singapore airlines twice yesterday morning and both times they hung up on me midway through the call
My flight leaves on the 3rd and lands in U.K. On the 4th the cfo will not put the sticker in her passport because the validity date is 4/11/16
Are you sure this is correct? If your wife has a valid visa for the UK, with a start date of 4th November. And you depart from Manila on the 3rd November, and land in the UK on the 4th November. Then there should be no problem if she flys with you, her visa will be valid for UK entry on 4th November. Or am I missing something?
At the start of the phone conversation ask and make a note of the agents name. At least if you get cut off you can at least continue from where you left off. Also give them your number to call you if the call is cut short.
Yes you are right John they can't leave the country till the day of validity, I tried asking Singapore airlines to change my flight from the 3rd to the 4th so I could travel back with her but they want £315 just to change the date even though the lady said there are plenty of seats on the 4th.
Suggest to them you intend to put your sympathetic request to them copying the airline ombudsman, the press and on social media asking are you being unreasonable, the potential bad press might help concentrate their minds!
Not so sure it will. If you require flexible dates you generally have to pay for that as part of the ticket purchase.
My visa is valid starting dec 7th. Does this mean even if I attend the CFO seminar tomorrow, I won't be given the CFO sticker eventhough I have the visa now?
Well maybe worst thing is to pay that extra. Of all the visa expenses you incurred including the Priority fee, extra ticket fees should be the last thing that would matter - Keep yourself from stress.
Ah I don't disagree at all but here we have grounds of a compassionate error that the airline could benifit from the good customer relations if they got the heart
It's the principle of not paying the extra just for the sake of one day when I have been told there are plenty of seats left at the end of the day I still paid my airfare even the travel agent did not have the decency to return my emails so I will never use them or Singapore airlines again.
Thing is, you can jump through all the hoops beforehand and then just go back for the sticker, being "pre-cleared" by the CFO. There is a risk of them wanting something and making a delay...
The day we got the visa the cfo was in Davao for 2 days so we went straight there for the sticker the man would not put the sticker in the passport and made no mention of a pre-cleared sticker I even mentioned this stating she cannot leave the country till the day the visa is valid from and it would save the inconvenience of travelling to Manila when she could have left from Davao
